My new OpenRail CNC machine will use 2 steppers to drive the X Axis. I have an Easy CNC driver board where one of the driver circuits went bad and replaced the card with a new one. My question is, can I use one of the drivers on my extra board as the driver for the second X stepper? And, if so, how would it be connected? Thanks.

I so did't want to get the Easy CNC board but decided in the end to get it with the kit because it was convenient. I'm now regretting it. I never really got to run my machine. I made maybe 4, very short, test cuts but mostly I was spending my time trying to calibrate the machine. I checked, periodically, if the chips get warm. They did, but not to much so. I have bigger stepper on the x and the y. First I thought that the problem was that the pulley slipped on the x stepper. That was one of...

It has come to our attention that a batch of Easy CNC Driver boards included bad opto-isolators. If your board looks like the one below, you may need replacement chips. We have a batch of them heading our way and will take care of distributing them. Your symptoms may include bit drift or missing steps (especially along the Z).

This has been a mystery to all of us for some time and very frustrating. Thank you all for your patience and understanding throughout this and for all of your...

I fried the chip for my "Z" axis. It was not moving, only buzzing a little. When I tried to remove the chip to replace it I fractured the "socket" it plugs into, now that is broken. Can that part be replaced (a yes answer here would have to mean it can be replaced by a bozo) or should I just buy a entire new circuit board? Anyone know how to get those chips out without damaging something. The chip was in really tight and when I pried up on it the base cracked and broke. Any suggestions would...
Checked out the Y chip and sure enough it was gone. It all lights up when I pull the Y chip out so that tells me it is burnt out. I really think I did not seat the heat sink in completely. I am soaking the metal piece that goes in between the chip and heat sink and will use the thin heat sink tape this time. I used a dab of ca and paste to hold it in...
