Hi Guyz,

Sorry it's been so long since I updated this. Anyway, for whatever reason I got it in my head to build a Mig-29 out of depron using the same building techniques I learned from building the jetset44 family of Sukhois 27 and 37. What put it over the edge was a 70mm EDF/50Amp ESC/4 servo combo from HobbyPartz for under $50. I got 2 and have my power system. I decided to design thrust vectoring into the model using the HobbyLobby TV nozzles either from the Su-34 or the F-35, but not...

I've modified Steve Shumate's (jetset44) S.U.-37 plans to allow for twin 64mm edfs. Currently the plane has the following specs:

wingspan: 35.5"
edf: 2x 64mm EDFs
motor: 2x 3500KV
ESC: 2x 45Amp
Battery: 4S 3300 mAh 35C (actually with this power setup the current draw is 63Amps, so at 3300mA a 20C is fine)
Servos: ail (2), elv (2), rud (2) thrust vector (3 servos, yaw, pitch, roll on 2 TV nozzles)
Here are some pictures: Attached files...

Growing up I was a big fan of Robotech, specifically the Macross Saga. This series introduced to the world the concept of a transforming giant robot. I believe it even pre-dates the Transformers saga but not Gundam. Anyway I was intrigued by the jet design because it so closely resembled the F-14 Tomcat. Since my foray into foam and EDFs I've always wanted to design an EDF conversion of the MDC F-14 (Maybz's design). Anyway I'm finally getting around to doing it. My original desires are to...

I'm starting a new project. I'm building the Shumate Su-27. It is basically the same plane/plans as the Su-37 with a couple of omissions: No TV and no canards. The specs are as follows:
wingspan: 30"
edf: 2x 55mm EDFs
motor: 2x 4300KV
ESC: 2x 30Amp

I wanted to see what the interest would be on this particular build/model. This was originally designed by Maybz to be both a pusher prop or edf. unfortunately the edf version of this model was INCREDIBLY unstable and no one could really get it to fly right, at least from what I could gather from the forums (i.e. rcgroups).
Anyway with a lot of trial and error and a lot of modification, I did manage to get a working/flying test mule using...

A while back I made a EDG Mig15, quick design, had a few inherent EDF problems (ie: not over powered) But the biggest problem for me was battery life, the 6 min flight was killing me. Anywho Menards is closing out the VPX cells so I picked up enough to make another 4S A123 pack... Can't charge it in the field, but 12 min of flight time is 100% more then I had.

spent the last hour improving on the design, got a bit more work to do, gonna take a break for a bit, but here's what I've got so far:

I will build all of them but the order they finish in is the order I will build them in. The X-31 would be the easiest to build and take a 70mm fan, and be fairly fast. The F-20 will be made out of quite a few parts and use the most foam but with the 500 watt 70mm fan it should be almost as fast as the X-31. Lastly the ARES will require the most extra cad work from...
