Hopefully I'm not missing something that is already there. I'm looking for a way to use SketchUp with a 2-axis hot wire cutter. Best I can come up with is to use the laser cutter settings and manually create a small narrow part that takes the path I would like from the origin to the actual parts and back so that the movement between parts doesn't cut through them and the hot wire doesn't turn off in the middle of the foam. Is there a way to get the travel path to avoid the parts, similar...
I set the z-height low so it goes fast. I then edit the g-code to make sure if it's passing over a clamp or hold-down I raise the cutter an extra 1/2 inch.
Is there a way of marking where the clamps are and then having the g-code automatically fly high over those areas?

I've been cutting a lot of mixed materials lately, requiring me to set up specialized parameters for each material/bit size/feeds/etc... G-10 of various thicknesses, wood, Acrylic, ABS, HDPE you name it. The only thing I haven't cut in a long time has been foam. Each time I find a good group of parameters for a type of material and bit type, I need to make a screenshot of the window so that I can refer back to it when I cut. In some of the models I have, I've got 3 different materials in the...

I'd like to see the SketchUcam help link updated with a full description for all the parameter settings.

The reason I request this is, as a CNC know-almost-nothing, I have no idea what "In/Outside Overcut %" does, and % of what? What does the measurement for "Safe Travel (Z)" represent? I own a PP III, and am currently looking at the Cargo Twins file and it's parameters, which doesn't seem normal to me. The help link could list suggested RPM, feed rates for specific bits/material, and...

I notice that the generate 3D path scans in the Y direction.

It would be nice if an option was added to allow an additional finishing path scanning in the X direction - maybe something like:

Finishing Pass (drop down):
* Y Scan
* X Scan
* Both
* None

The option for None could allow for two GCode scripts to be generated for different tools:
1st script - roughing with large cutter (no finishing pass)
2nd script - finishing with fine cutter (maybe only a finishing pass or two)

I have been working on some upgrades to the Phlatscript over the last few months and I thought I would give you guys some idea of what will be in the next version. There are many more things in the works but there must be a line in the sand somewhere.

Eraser Tool
The PS eraser will only erase edges created with a PS tool (cut edges, folds, centerline, etc.). It includes a filter that can be toggled to select all or each of the different cuts individually and will only erase that type....
