Hi folks and thanks for the great plugin. I'm just coming back to my overgrown Shapoko machine after being distracted with a 3D printer for a while.

I've just installed SketchUcam 1.2 and have been reminded about an issue I used to get too. It seems that sometime objects that are with ~40mm-50mm of the origin don't get gcode generated for them. I recall I used to just move everything a bit further out into the workspace but thought I'd make an effort to post a query here.

The attached SKP file contains a 400x400mm rectangle at origin 10,10. I then used the plunge tool in each of the 4 corners. The attached gcode file shows that only two of the plunges are generated.

    Thoughts anyone?

Brendan, please read the help file! There are more than one issue why you don't see the two missing holes and being close to the origin is not one of them. When I generate g-code I'm just over half a bit width from the origin and everything comes out perfect.

Thanks for the prompt reply. Sorry if the thread topic is misleading - I was trying to think of something to call it that wasn't just "Can you help with my problem please". I've re-read the help file a few times and I'm not sure where I'm going wrong. Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

The files in the initial post are an effort to provide a very simple example of what I'm seeing. The steps to reproduce my problem are:
    • Start a new file in Sketchup
    • Draw a rectangle with origin approximately 10mm,10mm and size 100 x 100mm
    • Go into the SetchUcam parameters dialog and make sure the bit diameter is set to 3.2mm and the Safe length and width is set to 700 x 700mm, click OK
    • Select the plunge tool and "plunge" is each of the 4 corners
    • Generate the GCode file - which only contains 2 of the 4 plunges.
    What am I doing wrong?

I had this problem a lot last year on a different computer with Sketchup 2013 (now using 2014) and several different projects. During that time I'd define the SketchUCam work area and then drag one panel at a time into that work area, define the cuts and then generate the GCode. Somethimes if I dragged the panel to close to the origin (ie within say 25mm) then the GCode would miss cuts near the X and Y axis. Perhaps it is a Inches versus millimetre problem? Or more likely I'm just missing something really obvious :)

Brendan, firstly, your problem with the missing holes in the above test could be because the hole is exactly in a corner and the red lines of the hole tool are on the lines of the drawing and being canceled because of that. Erase the horizontal lines and leave only the vertical lines and the holes should be all present in the g-code. Also, I didn't see the safe area in the sample that you posted. All my drawings have the first sheet's safe area on the zero point of the x and y axis. ALL of them. Only if I have more than one sheet are the rest of them not on the zero point. You just have to make sure that the cut-lines produced are in the safe area. If they are out of it they will not be included in the g-code. And YOU HAVE TO USE the safe area. If you don't it's a coin toss if the g-code will be complete or not.

BTW, the problem with the hole tool is mentioned, I think, in the help file since it was asked repeatedly and Swarfer wrote it which is why I said 'read the help file'. :spiteful::spiteful::spiteful:

Thanks, I hadn't picked that up in the help file (still not sure where is says that) ...but it sounds like Swarfer might have a plan anyway.

I apologise. In my haste to throw that example file together I must ave missed that step. However the problem still showed when following the steps in my second post - irrelevant now that you've helped me identify the issue.

    Mine too ...normally. :embarrassed:
