I break tonnes of endmill due to collision with fixtures. Most of the time is when the endmill heads for home at the end of a job. Is there a way of switching this off?

Is it just a matter if killing a line of code in the resulting g-code? Perhaps this line? "G0 X0 Y0 (home)"

    a) you should set your 'safe height' so it always clears the fixtures, that is what it is there for.
    b) if you are using SketchUcam v1.2a then there is a new feature called 'Use_end_position' which allows you to specify an ending position that is used instead of X0 Y0. However, this will be limited to within the currently defined 'material size'. More detail in the help, accessed via the big blue question mark in the toolbar.

I don't see the sketchucam version anywhere. But I suspect I could upgrade since I don't see that feature anywhere. I suppose it's on the parameter screen?

In this case the thing is doing a hundred pockets so if I make the safe Z as high as the fixture then it takes all day. That job to home is just extra motion for nothing in this case (with extra risk).

So what I've been doing is hitting space when it hits it's last cuts.

Does anybody know if the removal of the "G0 X0 Y0 (home)" is all I need to do?

If you do this it will stay at the last position the tool was. Just make sure you don't erase the z command that tells it to go to safe height or the tool will keep spinning in the material. Don't ask me how I know this. :banghead:

So what your saying is that removal of the one line I mentioned should work? It should raise the cutter and just wait there?

    Thanks...

the version number is in the gcode output, and also displayed on the parameter dialog
    Tools|Phlatboyz|Options|Features menu
Your issue is entirely solved by version 1.2a and the 'Use_end_position' option.
    just upgrade from
    http://www.phlatforum.com/xenforo/threads/sketchucam-download.3128/
restart Sketchup and set the parameters you need in the Options|Features menu.

Correct! But as swarfer said, you don't have to do it manually if you upgrade to the newest version of SketchUcam and choose the option he mentioned.
