Is there anywhere that I can find a tutorial on how to take a 3d file from the 3d warehouse and convert into parts to cut out on my OX?

    Cheers

I don't think that there is a tutorial on it since SketchUp and/or SketchUcam is not, yet, very well equipped to do 3D CAM. There is some 3D functionality in SketchUcam, and I used it quite a bit, but it is for simple things. To use the 3D in SketchUcam please read the help file by clicking the big '?' icon in the SketchUcam tool bar.

It all depends on the thing you are making. Many things are just flat plates or bars that are fitted together (think chair or table), and those are very well suited to SketchUcam. Pure 3D things, with curved tops/bottoms, well, SketchUcam is (at the moment) not so good at that. You can export from Skethup as STL and import into pyCam which will do a very good job of cutting 3D objects. of course there are many other bits of CAM software that are good for 3D stuff.

As to how to do it......
    the basic process is:
    1. select a part of the object that can be cut from flat sheet
    2. copy it
    3. un-component the copy (if a component)
    4. un-group it (if any groups)
    5. select all
    6. if needed, rotate it so that the correct side is up
    7. right click, select Phlat Edge|Phlatten Selected Edges
    8. now you have a flat drawing and can add SketchUcam cut lines to it.
I did this sort of thing with my 3D drawing of the seat knob in this video:
