That look great! Looks like you already have the Sketchup file too!
If you need help converting it to Phlatcode just post it here as a Sketchup and I will convert it and post it in a category

    Thanks guys

OK Guys, here is Version 2 of the Rocket for 3mm depron and a 1/16" bit! If you have the bigger sheets you could probably combine both versions !!! :) I havent had a chance to cut either one yet !!

This is the 1st time I thought I need a new computer, even though its an old p4. I could not even explode the component in the "stand.skp" file from the 1st post. It would hang my computer?
Anyways importing the dxfs worked. When you import, sketchup saids # of splines imported. But when you look at the edge count it 10X as many. Those 3 files were 20K, 10K and 5K edges respectively. I figured out, if you "repair broken lines", then for this set of files, at least seems to put them back to the form they were meant to be. It took a while to do the "repair broke lines", too. Maybe my computer is just too slow. I eventually had to do each part seperately or selected a small group. Anyways here is the results, just the lines like what was posted in the 1st post. But scaled and with all the dxf/sketchup import problems repaired. Files 1/10th the size and complexity. I would start with these files (labeled with an "a" suffix), not the ones above. Sorry John, I see you are done with your set. I also noticed a square in each drawing. And I think it may just be meant for showing scale and not used (exactly 2"x2" square). Attached files Rocket Stand_a.skp (37.8 KB)Â Rocket_v1a.skp (118.3 KB)Â Rocket_v2a.skp (69.8 KB)Â

Thanks Kwok, It took a long while to do the tabbing as you said there were so many broken lines that I had to scroll in and make like 20 segment tabs  , I wish I waited for your files :) Thanks for doing that, this will be nice if someone wants to make a file for Fanfold! also I thought the squares were not part of the Rocket but everything was taking long to load I didnt want to take a chance and have to redo the code

    Thanks

So I looked over this with more detail Kwok, and I am wondering if, because I used the drag function for the tabs that they are double tabbing over the same segment. Its possible I am going over the same area, I also think because the file segments are small on the curves this could be an issue when trying to make wide segments!!
I know I asked Tim this before but why wont the size labeled in the parameters box make the exact size so we dont have to make several section tabs HMM!! :) Maybe one day this could be added to the new script, this would save soooooo much time on these more complicated files!!
    Thanks for your help!!

Can you actually reproduce those strange tabs? I couldn't do it. I am not 100% sure, but the cnc code, with the strange tabs, still looked ok.

As far as the size label in the parameter box, I think right now it only works for straight segments and also shortens them if the segment is smaller. It doesn't work for arcs now because until the G2/G3 arc cnc code were added to the phlatcript, everything was made of straight segments. I forget which version ago, maybe 918? So the newer arc coding, stills need to be updated for this feature. Well don't hold me to it. That's my limited understanding, at the moment.

That is actually a pretty good assessment. When an arc is being output to gcode additional code needs to be added to recalculate the actual arc itself where it intersects the tab. If there is a tab on an arc and we get the starting position of that tab it is not on the circumference of the arc, it is the actual position on the line segment that intersects the circumference.

Take a look at this image. If the tab doesn't consume the entire arc segment then the start and endpoint of the tab (the rectangle in the picture) are on the line segment and not on the actual circle circumference. If the tab does consume the entire segment the start and endpoint are now on the circumference.

It is simple trig to figure out where the point would be on the circumference but I was running into a lot of rounding errors when I tried implementing it before. One day I may take a look at it again. EMC is not very forgiving when using G2/3 commands and that is what I use for my PP. Attached files [IMG]

I couldnt recreate it, I wonder if I just had a bum file, sometimes when I open Sketchup certain files become corrupt but if I copy them to a new SKP file they work fine!!

DID you try to drag the tab tool across the cut path to make multiple tab segments? I had to go back and forth to get them to fill properly!!

Tim, thanks for the explanation. Do you think it would be possible to get sketchup to break that segment and draw in 3 arcs as replacement? -Kwok

Yes, I tried dragging the tab tool. I could see it almost do something strange for a fraction of a second, but never could get it to stick. And it wasn't really repeatable, when I would catch a peak.

Mods I am thinking that once the cut files are made for any of these upgrade plans they should be moved into a free plans categorie that suits them. This will keep order for searching files here.
I will try to move them as I find them but any help would be great.
    Thanks guys

Looks done to me. So moved to the sliceform/sculpture forum. I like the pictures and the plans are spread out. So I just added a index at the top and moved the whole thread over.
