Would it be possible to use a 12" plastic plate if a mod was made to fit the plate in the platformer?

I was thinking about this today as many of the inital pulls are just test and not a final one.

Just did not want to waist all my testing on the good styrene.

A plate would melt and form just fine. I would like to see a mod to be able to use them.
Do you have any ideas on how to do the mod?

I was thinking of some thin cork board 12x12 that would fit in the phlatformer frame , cut out a circle on each then take the 2 pieces of cork with the plate and sandwich it in them middle. Not sure if it would be strong enough.

Not sure it it would be strong enough either, but if it would work it would sure make for a great prototype material. I'll have to play around with this idea too.

Since the phlatformer doesn't "flip" the media the way a lot of other vacu-formers do, I would think it would be pretty easy to work up a replacement for the "heat shield" that would grip the plate.
