Hey everyone I was asked by a friend to come up with a simple design EPP mustang that could be flown a couple different ways. So here is what I came up with Both planes are built out of 9m 1.3# EPP foam and use 3mm carbon for stiffners I also just added a complete EPP foam and accessoreis package to my online store for people looking to get everyhing needed in one place Kit includes EPP foam/Carbon/Motor mount and all dubro hardware required to build kit http://www.FreeWebStore.org/sdparkflyersOnlineshop 2 simple designs that can be built 2 different ways. The first version I call the Superslo Mustang I took many of the great basic flight setups that can be found on one of my favorite planes the http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=959721 and made them into a mustang The 2nd version is a more trimmed down version of the same plane the Fuse is shorter in height and the wings have a smaller cord better for faster rolling and 3D flight. Now the part about 2 planes that can be built 2 Different ways Both planes can be built as combat version (no working rudder) all the designs use the same hardware listed below to keep it simple hardware list hexTronik 24gram Brushless http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=2069&Product_Name=hexTronik_24gram_Brushless_Outrunner_1300kv&aff=1631 Speed Control: TURNIGY Plush 10amp http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=4204&Product_Name=TURNIGY_Plush_10amp_9gram__Speed_Controller&aff=1631 battery http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=7301&Product_Name=Rhino_360mAh_2S_7.4v_20C_Lipoly_Pack&aff=1631 Prop http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=10047&Product_Name=GWS_EP_Propeller_(DD-9050_229x127mm)_(6pcs/set)&aff=1631 (DD-9050 229x127mm) (6pcs/set) Servos HXT900 9g / 1.6kg / .12sec http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=662&Product_Name=HXT900_9g_/_1.6kg_/_.12sec_Micro_Servo&aff=1631 Elevator/Rudder HXT500 5g / .8kg / .10sec http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=663&Product_Name=HXT500_5g_/_.8kg_/_.10sec_Micro_Servo&aff=1631 Attached files slomustang2.skp (777.4 KB)Â

I will work the code up for this bad boy when I get back to the house today Thank you for sharing Mark
Looks Great Rob!!! I made up a code file for 9mm epp and an 1/8" bit !!!! I have the bevels for the control surfaces and carbon brace routing added for 3mm carbon tube!! Hope this helps!! Thank you!! John Attached files slomustang2.cnc (18.5 KB)Â
WOW guys thanks again! Flight times are from 6-8 minutes per pack If you push the hover botton times will change if you fly around low and slow this plane can be flown easy for 8 minutes xtremeRCpilot :Thanks for converting the file. I had one of the members cut me some planes and it looked like when you try and cut 45's on the control services that the foam is torn up pretty bad. Im not sure if anyone is getting better results everything else would be fine the slots for carbon and all other cutouts should be ok.
Thanks sd... I use the bevel cuts on all my planes and even the EPP there were no problems.!! I do cut mine at only 75ips so maybe there would be an issue at higher ipms , Thanks again!! John here is the bevels on my Ghost plane!! you can see the lines, but now I am cutting passes in less increments so they are not as visible!! Attached files
I thought I would post a few more Pictures to show how how the hardware and electronics are installed Attached files
As listed before I did not use the HTX500 servos on this model I went with the Bluebird 306 they lay inside the 9mm foam flush and have smaller lead wires that are not as bulky as the tower pro servos Hobby City Link http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uh_viewItem.asp?idProduct=8757&Product_Name=BMS-306BB_Micro_Servo_1.1kg_/_.10sec_/_6.6g&aff=1631
Xtreme, Do you happen to have the skp file that you created the cnc code from? I have two lengths of 9 mm epp but neither of them are long enough. I need to move some pieces around.
Unfortunatley, my epp was only about 1/16th longer than the parts, I tried to cut it but I lost steps on the wing. That was my last piece of epp... So No joy on the SloMustang...
I have a question for the group is anyone able to convert this file into a cad format like dxf for me! Thanks
Im not sure but the one I used was for sketchup, I believe I picked up the download here!! viewtopic.php?f=103&t=577 John
I downloaded the plugin and it works great! WOW what a life saver and it lets you pick inches/mm and other measurements cool stuff thanks again!
Ok everyone I just got the first demo kit from Budgetrc.com of my new sloflyP51 and all I can say is WOW! this kit is Sweeeeet. this one was cut as a demo for me to make sure everything was the way I liked it before the kits are ordered. I went and hot wired the 45's on all the control surfaces and cut all the groves for the carbon. I will post pictures of her tomorrow! Now if anyone wants to buy this kit PM me! It can be your for $25.00 + a small shipping fee depending on your location should be around $6.00 I will also include the carbon Motor Mount. that you will see in the photos.
People I just mad a Zero to go with the P51. Since I sale the plans now for the P51 kit anyone who wants the zero sketchup file I will only post the fuse here as the wings are the same as the zero.
You know what would make this perfect? If the servo holes were cut by the Phlatprinter also. ANy recommendations as to where to put them?
