If this has been covered, please point me in the right direction. Otherwise, can someone tell me how to create a screenshot from SU in windows?
On your keyboard there is a key "Print Screen". It's the one right above the insert and delete key. All you have to do is press that key, then open up a program like paint and paste it in. Basically after you press the print screen key it saves the screen shot in the virtual clipboard, then you will need to open up a program like Paint (it comes with Windows) ,paste it, then save it. IN SU Center what you would like to capture in the screen. Then go to upper left corner.......File/Export/2D Graphic..... It will create a JPG picture. Cheers E-T Attached files
Shaun, I think you have to press 'ctrl' first and hold it down and then press the 'print screen' button.
In Windows, the default behavior of hitting "Prinscreen" is to capture an image of the entire screen to the clipboard, where it can then be pasted into another application. Holding Alt and hitting Printscreen takes an image of only the active window. There are a number of printscreen replacement applications available. At the college where I teach networking we have settled on "Gadwin Print Screen" which is free and allows for selection of desired capture area, saving directly to files in a number of formats (including bitmap, JPEG and PNG), automatic naming of captures, emailing captures, and watermarking of images with a custom overlay which can include computer name, date and time, etc. You can find this tool at http://www.gadwin.com - we've had great luck with it over the past 5 years.
And I thought it was the 'ctrl' key. I tried it without, just the 'print screen' key and it works. Man, was I off all these years!
I just press "Print Screen" now, but I remember using "Ctrl - Print Screen" a long time ago. Possibly this was just related to an older os or specific software. Anyways Wikipedia saids this, "Some shells allow modification of the exact behavior using modifier keys such as the control key." And the interesting one is Alt. "Alt - Print Screen" will capture the current window. For sketchup, I almost always use the export. One tip is to use .png instead of .jpg . The file size is much smaller and I think the image quality better, for screen stuff. Just did a test and the .png image is more exact. jpg dulled down, some colors like the forum colored box outline and the red spelling error underline. Lines are not sharp and thin. I think all this is because jpg is designed for photos, where it tries to blend outlines for a better looking picture. If you use .png on photos, the size is huge compared to jpg. Photos is where jpg shines. -Kwok
