Here are some build pics and glamor shots of my MKII.
    After the neat clamping tricks...

I decided to go crazy. Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Then I got to thinkin, if I can cut MDF...
This cut did not turn out, turns out I forgot to glue in my Z bushings and they fell out!!
After trouble shooting all day long, I figured it out and re-cut: Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

WOW! Erik, that machine rocks! And the 4th axis is outstanding, too! Are you planning to add a live center support at the other end, to start cutting ~20" long tubular shapes?

    Awesome Erik!
The fourth axis is a great idea.
I like how you used a drill chuck.

yes, but I have no idea where the switch actually came from, it was laying around over here so I used it! I will upload the skp file for the s/w mount though and any info I can find on the s/w.

cncmachineguy, these switches are standard and you can get them almost anywhere. I''m sure that the Shack place has them. They have two mounting holes and unless you're going to glue them, not recommended, I would make two holes in the plate to secure them.

Man, TVC I am blown away. The 4th axis is off the hook. Taken it to the next level, Mark we should try to get this as a module add to the current MKII. It seems pretty straight forward.

Way to go TVC, awesome machine and great build!!!!

    First results!
    Bf-109 Spinner :D

G-code was made using the centerline command with zero depth, simply replace the "x" with "z" and the "y" with "x" Add in a line to start my rotozip (using the coolant mist M7 to start and M9 to stop) and we were off to the races! Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

...Not that I get it, (the Sketchup file is nothing more than a banana curve is my best educated guess...) but then again, this is after all pure wizardry!

Hat's off to you Erik! :ugeek:

 Here's some more "pure wizardry" for ya!
You are right that is all the skp file really is Martin, it's really pretty easy stuff... then the X and Y get sorted out using a find replace command so they read X and Z...

Attached are the cnc / ngc files I used to make this spinner, I used sketchup for help after Bert showed me how to do it. Attached files 109 Spinner Lathe.cnc (975 B)Â prop cutout (APC).cnc (1.7 KB)Â

Erik, thats really cool, is the front flat or does it just look like it in the video? I wonder if you can start at the front and move towards the back, then cut round the corner and up towards the spindle, then you will have a nice true back edge and rounded edge (like 1/32 radius)

None the less, That is an awesome addition to an already awesome product!

    fifty thumbs up!!!!
