so i had got an outrunner motor from hobbyking and there was an issue on how i was gonna mount it because the mounting "x" was on the same side as the shaft.
i may have been able to move the shaft around but i just decided to make my own motor mount.
i thought you all might like to see it, i thought it was really cool.
ask any questions you like except for weight issues lol :)
btw i made this in my catn (trade school) class its made out of aluminum. Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Sweet! really nice work Alex that is going to be a keeper for sure. I think you will go through many planes before you ever have to make a new one of these.

Very, very nice. It could weigh a little, but it is a work of art.!

    Hey Alex,
I almost wonder if you could use that as a plug in the phlatformer. You might have to shave some more in the notch areas to account for the plastic thickness. Then you could have a plastic motor mount.
Cool stuff man, keep up the good work!

It looks good, Alex. I have a few questions.
Did you do it on a CNC or did you cut it by hand on the machine?
Why are there only three legs?
How do you mount it on the plane? I didn't see no screw holes

That is nice work but all you had to do was loosen the grub screw on the motor and push the shaft out the other side to mount it with the X adapter.

i thought i would be able to do something like that but there was some reason i didn't. i don't quite remember the reason behind not doing it this way but im sure i had one.
also i just wanted something else to make in my class.

any other questions you may have just feel free to ask :)

Well, I presumed you would eventually tell / show us what you made it for. After all, there must have been a specific reason you designed it with only three support legs.
So, is it necessary for me to ask before you'll show off your new toy? ;)
