Here is my latest design I've been working on.
I am using the electronics out of the Parkzone Micro Sukhoi.
So far I am very happy with the flight results but I am using the bellcrank system out of the Sukhoi and can't get 45 deg deflection on my ailerons. I just got a couple of micro servos so I can have one servo per aileron and should have no problem then. So far it does really well on most maneuvers but the rolling harriers are lacking due to the aileron travel. Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Looks sweet Shaun! Nice job on the milling
I ran into the same problem with the short throws and I went with the AR6400L The L stands for longer throws and it makes a difference. You can hold the two boards side by side and see the longer servo runs. Some one mentioned this to me and it helped me out so I thought I would pass the word :)
Really nice job bro keep up the good work.

    Thanks guys.
As for the longer throw. I'm able to get 45 deg throw on the elevator and rudder because I made the control horns hole very close to the hinge line surface. I do like the sound of those 6400l versions though.

i bet theres a way to make the servo arms a lil bit longer...
    that would work also.

Looks great Shaun! I've been getting into the milling thing obsessively too... at this scale it does help cut the weight down and looks cool to boot.

How are you creating your pockets? I'm using hatch and island paths out of Enroute and sending them as dxfs over to Sketchup. Pretty easy process.

Check my projects thread, I posted some milling calibration tools I've found helpful for verifying my Z settings.

    CHEERS!

    Thanks Toast!
I used the pocket plugin and then applied the centerline tool. The pocket plugin worked on the basic geometric shapes but for places like the canopy area I use the inside cut tool, phlatten it and keep repeating, then apply the centerline tool to that. Tedious way of doing it but it works really well.

Well, if you email me your pockets only in a dxf, I can set the pocket paths for you super easy. PM me if you'd like on this. It even can do boolean style pocketing, like my cdrom example.

BTW, used to surf in the inlet and go clamming back in the day ;-)

Small world indeed! Always very clean breaks in the inlet. I was there mainly in 93-94 time frame. Also between 5th and 6th St in Cocoa Beach offered mellow glassy at dawn, another nice spot to go. Lets hope BP sludge misses that area.

If any phlatheads need to make some clean milling paths for their projects, PM me and prepare a sketchup file with the mill pockets shapes only. I'll path it in either 1/16 or 1/8th and send you back the file.

One caveat, the shapes need to be really clean with no breaks.

    Small world it is.
That's so cool you guys both have been surfing just a few miles up the road from me.
I agree about the BP sludge...I keep hearing mixed thoughts on if it would actually get to us because the gulf stream flows further out in our area. I just hope it doesn't affect us, we have some nice beaches here. Dang BP. :(

    Toxic toast,
That sure is nice of you to offer the pockets for all of us here. Thanks man!

Very cool! indeed :D Ahh the good ol dayz , brings back fun memories. I do remember a lot of sharks at the monster hole one time that we went out there it was crazy. But they were not interested int us at all. They must have been chasing bait fish all around us. It seems like when ever there is a storm of the coast that's when the bigger fish would move closer to the shore and they would be out in the line up with us. Crazy times
