Hey guyz! Chat it up about the new version of the Phlatscript.
Shout outs to Kwok and all the beta testers who made this possible, job well done boyz! :)
Thank you for all your continued efforts in making this a reality for us all.
    Mark and Trish

    New features:

What's been updated as of release date Nov 10/ 2010 PhlatScripT v0.924:

    0.924 November 3, 2010

    - Su7.1 & SU8 compatibility (fixed missing edge colors and texture)
    - Metric enhancement (metric gcode output, & Parameters values show as metric values)
    - Multipass now completes each cut, before moving on
    - added "Safe Travel" value to Parameters Dialog (this is a safe retract height for fast traverse(not when cutting))
    - added "Overhead Gantry" checkbox option to Parameters Dialog (changes direction of outside and inside cuts)
    - Overhead Gantry true/false line added to gcode file header (so you can check what your gcode was generated for)
    - Help file(html): updated & fixed (colors and tables were messed up)
    - added G61 Exact Stop Gcode option (change "$use_exact_path" value in Constants.rb)
    - when saving the Gcode file, a different extension can now be typed in by the user

As always the work involved has me speechless... but if I have to beg, send money or bake a few cakes..... I will do what ever it takes, to never have to manually place another "TAB" on my phlat lines. Please programmers let auto tabbing be in the next phlatscript :D
Just busten your chops, nice job on the new script THANK YOU!!! :p

    and Thanks again guyz!!

Autotabs would be nice if the program knew where I wanted them. I'll bet we'll spend nearly as much time removing unnecessary tabs as we do now, placing the necessary ones.
After all, the programming logic involved to decide if a cutout is so small it will become a dropout, if two pieces are so close that they need additional tabs to support the remaining cutaway piece, whether the majority of a particular portion of a curve or line is in the X or Y direction, related to the cutting table, etc. will be fairly extensive. That would be a lot of work for Kwok (or anybody else) to take up.

That said, Thank You Kwok and all the Beta testers for producing another fine revision to an already excellent plugin! Fantastic work!

Agreed Dennis, I think what would be even more effective is, if there was any way to tell the tab tool to utilize the appropriate amount of segments of any line/curve when assigning a specific length to the tab! In other words... say if you assign .2500" for your tab length in the parameters box, and when you hover over the inside or outside phlatlines mainly on a curve, could it assume the connecting line segments until it is exactly .2500".
Right now,say if we have a curve with 75 segments to get a smooth curve edge, the segments may be only .0625" and when we hover the tab tool, it only consumes one given line, so then we have to zoom in and connect tabs manually until we get the tab length desired! Just food for thought and I know Kwok has already thought of this for sure and most likely because of the immense amount of programming or non compatibility this may not even be doable, once again I am extremely grateful for the hard work and time all of you have put into this script to make our lives easier and wanted to Thank you again....
YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!!!! :p

    Colleagues of the forum;
I'm partially to translate the new version of Phlatscript to Portuguese (the output gcode, Parameters and Window buttons).
Lack translate the buttons OK, Cancel and Restore Defaults "in the window of the parameters.
    In Which file are they?
    I appreciate the information.
    Hugs.

    Flashsolutions;

Thank you very much for the tip.
I searched in all files "rb"
Html thought that were only help files.

One more idea to throw in the mix. I've been working in the near micro scale for a bit lately. I've noticed that sometimes the plunge start of an outside-inside cut is controlled completely automatically in Phlatscript. There has been rare times where it plunges a path in a corner and finishes in the same spot. For whatever reason, this sometimes causes problems at the corner because I'll get a slightly enlarged 'bite' into the foam at the plunge point. This is probably material chatter as my Z is rock solid and the line is clean from end to end. There is not really a way to control this in Phlatscript. I have used other CAM solutions that will allow you to designate where on a path the plunge will occur, allowing minimizing the impact of the plunge point. While it happens only on rare parts, it is most noticeable on inside cuts where I have a bunch of small holes set up or on outsides where acute angles come together (like the pointy front end of a jet plane). If I could move the cut start point to a safer area, I would.

    Make sense?

BTW-awesome work on the new script!

That's a good idea. If there is interest, I'll be willing to make a version in German, Spanish and Hebrew.

Hi marcomartim, could you please make sure to include the license files when you distribute the phlatscript. Thanks. I've made a new tread to put all the foreign language versions. I've deleted your posted copy and replaced it with a new one with the license files included.

Firstly another big thankyou to everyone involved with the PS. It's great to have a metric option in this new release.

I have a query about the 'Plunge Rate' option in the Parameters dialogue box.
I was experimenting cutting some 1mm thick fibreglass board yesterday with a 1mm diameter bit. I usually set all the feedrates manually to around 4ipm when cutting harder materials, but I thought i'd experiment with the Phlatscript settings so that I could speed up the travelling moves.
I set my feedrate to 10ipm and my plunge rate to 1ipm. These speeds worked well, the bit plunged into the material really slowly and didn't lift the material like it sometimes does, normal cuts were fine at 10ipm and travelling moves were super-fast.
The problem I found was with the tabbing. The negative Z moves (plunges at the end of each tab) were at 10ipm which caused the material to lift and eventually broke my cutting bit.
I manually edited the gcode and added 'F1' after each negative Z move and then added an F10 on the following line of code. This worked a treat and the second attempt cut really nicely.
It's quite tedious to do this manually so I was wondering if this might be something to incorporate into the Phlatscript, especially as I can imagine more people experimenting with cutting harder materials on the new ///'s ?

Thanks, Si for the report. Sounds like a bug. I will have a look at it later. If I can figure it out, I will post a mod so people can try it out right away.

Thanks for looking into this Kwok. I wasn't sure if it was a deliberate feature or not, I tried a couple of other versions of the Phlatscript and got identical results.

I generated some gcode with a tab and it looks like regular tabs don't even use the plunge feed rate. That's not good. It's buried in the code, so it going to take some time to figure out. But it will be looked into.

Does it show up in Window/Preferences/Extensions? Extension is called "Phlatboyz Tools".
If that's there, then you probably just need to show the toolbar: View/Toolbars/Phlatboyz
