I’ve read that the phlatprinter can take 2” thick stock, but cut only to a depth of 1 3/4". Is there any mods that could allow it to cut 2” thick stock? I use 2” eps foam for my combat fuselages.

    Thanks
    Max

Hi Max and welcome to the Phlatforum! :)
If you could find a bit that would be long enough, you should be able to raise the cutter up a little and get the full cutting depth you are after. I have not tried this but it may work.

Cool..I'll do a search for bits, what are the name of the type of bits you use and the shank size?

    Thanks

I'm not sure your information is correct. I have not tried cutting 2" stock on my machine but, I don't see a reason why it wouldn't be possible. The limiting factor may very well be finding a bit that would work for your application. Many of the smaller bits don't have that much cutting area available. If you move up to one of the optional spindles you might find a better bit choice. I'm pretty sure the gantry will raise enough to allow for a full cutting depth of 2" stock.

Looks like Mark posted up as I was posting as well. Should be possible!

1/16, 1/8", dremel style bits on the stock spindle. 1/4" on some of the optional spindles.

I cut 2" stock last night to a depth of 1.6".

It is a very tight squeeze to do that and the gantry movement/shape does not allow for clearance of more than that. The pressure rollers also have a maximum clearance height that would restrict you to 2".
