My old computer died and now all I have is USB ports, also this put my phlats on hold... can't make any planes...... I wanted to know if it is possible to upgrade/switch from the old parallel port board to the usb board. If the answer is yes, which board or hardware do I need to get from planet cnc or from this site. Also what software do i need to use if I go to usb port. Thanks Navop
Navop, Sorry to hear about your old computer cutting out on ya, the upgrade to USB should be no problem. At the moment we do not have the USB on the store so we will send you a PM with the details tonight Thanks Mark and Trish
You can switch between a parallel cable driven machine and the USB driven machine any time, Navop. Some people here do it all the time, switching between Mach3 and/or Linux and/or the USB board. The USB board comes with the software needed to control it. On the other hand, I opted to buy a used computer. It will come on Tuesday and had cost me $65 shipped. EDIT: I see that Mark had posted while I was typing.
Thanks for the quick reply. P.S. about getting an old computer, not sure if wife would enjoy another computer in house ...lol only have 8 of them...on the network.......
Hi Navop, Sorry we did not get back to you last night. we had a long night at Aunt Helen's house. We will get back to you tonight Mark and Trish
Hi Mark & Trish Just ordered the usb board and terminal adapter for the motors. Once I recieve the kit I will detail the wiring schematic and try to get a video of the phlat at work. Thanks
