Ok guys, I have not tried these as my Phlatty puter power supply died but they look good in GPlot. The smaller scene is about 25"wide and the larger scene is about 36". No guarentees on these as I can't test cut them and they were a real bear to mark up so enjoy them, good luck and Happy Holidays! Ok guys I know its a bit early, but here is a new Nativity I made after seeing the ones in the yards around here last year. I am using a 1/16th bit with 1/4" foam This one started out trying to make it with out any glue so these parts are tight and you will have to pinch the parts to get them to fit together, they are tight but they will work as you see in the pic. The reason I decided to use glue was for the star. I wanted to add an LED behind it to see what it would look like with the double star spaced off the front and the light shining though. I think it would look nice cut from white depron Hope you enjoy it. Mark and Trish Attached files Nativity3Phlatprinter.cnc (322.8 KB)Â Nativity3Phlatprinter.skp (3.9 MB)Â
Sweet Ross! Nice job I like the way you did the crib Are you going to share your file with us? Thanks bro Mark and Trish
Latest version of the tabletop Nativity set This one uses 1/8th" Bit with 1/4" foam I am not sure why I used a 1/16th" bit on the original one that I posted in the above post (must have not wanted to change out my bit from another cut) but this one should cut fine for you guyz with the stock Phlatprinter bit. We made this one for our table on this weeks PhlatLAB and it turned out great with the LED lit star Have fun and Merry Christmas Everyone! Mark and Trish P.S. Phlatastic festive model guys! I rearranged the parts to suit 6mm Depron with a 35" x 26" safe area and stock bit just to save a few minutes for anyone at this busy time of year. Mines just waiting for its LED lighting. Hi guyz, I tried to modify this file for a 1/16" bit, but when I generated G-Code, Joseph, Mary and Jesus did not show up? Everything else was fine, even the inside cuts and JMJ were there. Can anyone tell me what I am doing wrong? I'm using SU 2013, with the latest Phlatboyz tools. I wound up swapping bits, but we prefer to cut with the smaller bits. Thanks for the awesome idea and drawing, it looks great. Lew
Make sure that when you make the outside cut lines, a 'face' is created. If there is no 'face' the g-code for that part will not be generated. To check if there is a 'face' zoom in and click on the space between the part outlines and the outside cut lines. If it's not a face it will not be selected and you know you have a problem somewhere.
Yoram, You are correct, no face is created when I apply the outside cut tool, it draws the tool path line but the face is not created. I don't know how to correct the issue. Any thoughts? Lew
Draw a line between the Phlatline and the outline of the face, anywhere, like in the picture. Now draw another one somewhere. If it makes a 'face' on one side continue making those line on the part that is not a 'face'. Eventually you'll narrow the area without a 'face' down to a small enough area that make is possible to see where the problem/problems is/are. In your case, there is a line that is not connected and has 'v' going off. Erase the 'v' portion and with the 'move' tool move the end of the line to connect with the other end. Draw another small line, like above, at the point where you made the correction and everything will be a 'face'. Now go and erase all the small lines you've made. They are not needed anymore.
