although this phlatprinter project isn't r/c related, i figured someone might like to see my latest project. my brother was wanting a new knife as he is a avid deer hunter. i drew up a design in sketch-up and engraved it on some d-2 steel. just deep enough for a guide, or lay-out. i think it came out very nice thanks to the phlatty. peace, randy.
btw...the sheath was just formed by hand from kydex....

I'd call it a major success ;) Gotta love that Kydex. Wish I had the pile of scrap Kydex a friend through out just because :(

as my other brother looked at the knife i gave for Christmas, i could tell he was wanting one...so wile its cold, and i have no r/c projects, just waitin for spring to fly my tri-quad....i decided to build him one. man before i had my phlatprinter i would be ashamed to post the previous builds, but with this new use of my tools, they come out as designed and planed. i will sent to heat-treat tomorrow. also i ordered the wood for the handle, and started making the silver nickel bolsters and pins. i will post a photo of the knife when its completed. randy.

fellas... Trish....i just completed my second phlatprinter knife..although i still have to make a sheath... after my other brother seen the first phlatprinter knife i gave for Christmas, he has been wantin one bad!!!... i used the same materials, D-2 steel, spalted maple wood, silver nickel to make him one. the use of the phlatprinter has been a very valuable tool, as it has elevated my knife building considerably. without the use of the phlatprinter, to model and scale the design, i simply could not achieve the results i an getting now. also i can keep the files in my knife library for future use, to remake, or scale up or down. like in my first post....knife phlatprinter style....my other brother will love his now. peace, randy.

    Randy these are fantastic!
are you marking them with your name/date/number? I think that this is something that could be handed down through the generations.
    Great job!

since i made my brothers knifes......i decided to make one for myself. the phlatprinter mk-3 is such a great machine !!! i have never built knives at this level before without the cnc phlatprinter. it makes the process so easy....the blade is 1/8 thick D-2 steel heat treat @ 59/60 r/c. i decided to get away from the wood scales on this one and do a carbon fiber scale. its 1/8 thick blue carbon fiber. btw, my phlatty is calibrated so good, it cuts a six inch square +- .001 both ways !!..... man this new MK-3 is awesome....thanks mark and Trish, all your hard work on the phlatty, it will bring so much happiness to people. peace, randy.

hello fellas, Trish......anyone that knows me, knows i like to make knives.....this is my very first folder build. i layed the design out, on the phlatty, and cut out by hand. the carbon fiber was cut on the phlatty thou.....the blade material is 59 r/c d-2 and the liners are titanium. although its not completed " finishing handwork" its ok to show. without the phlatty to layout everything, it would not come out good at all. peace, randy.

well thanks shaun......actually before i started to use the phlatprinter for a tool, well lets just say ther not made to plan, lols. also i would like to share i bought a diamond drag engraving tool from ebay. it works awesome for my layout needs. it is spring loaded and it has a 1/4 shank so it will fit my bosch router. you dont turn the router on when in use, it just drags along......i set the z-depth to .015 and scribe away. as far as cutting the carbon fiber, i used a multi-pass @1/16 deep and 10 ipm feed. the stuff cuts like butter...i got alot of handwork to do on the blade itself....nothin but time, lols. randy.
