I'm using the Mechatronics 3-Axis board that came with the Premium kit - this one: http://www.easy-cnc.com/3axisdriver.html
    It measures approx 4.18 X 5.425 X 1.125 thk, with a 3.2 X 5.2 Hole pattern (off-center).
The online image is HUGE so I won't bother posting it, but here's a thumbnail image - [IMG]

I'm using the same board as Dorsal, as well. Prolly most all of us here are using the Mechatronics 3 axis board.

Can some one mic and dim the easy-cnc driver board for all its connections?
DXF file of the layout would be great.

Heres a layout/template I threw together to give an idea of what I need, None of the dims are correct. I need them corrected so I can design the enclosure for the board.

    Thanks,

I'm using the one that came with my kit. Might be looking at another one though. Have to keep tapping the top of the heatsinks to keep the noise down. Board is running cool throughout any cutting.

Frank that noise is suppose to be there, I would not tap on the chip for fear of a burn out.
I found this in the manual for the easy-cnc board

Eric, on their site I could only find the whole system, not the board only. Did you buy a whole system? If you bought the board only, how much did you pay for it?

I bought my board that this guy sells. http://stores.ebay.com/Univelop-Tech-LLC
One thing I have to say about it: DO NOT BUY IT!!!. The chip gets hot, you can fry an egg on it. You can make no Vref adjustments. The guy doesn't return email if you ask uncomfortable questions.

I think I'll end up going with the easy-cnc board. They are very similar to the xylotex board only the easy-cnc costs $112 shipped on ebay. I bought the boards that I have used on ebay for $65 shipped but it still was money down the drain.

    TigerPilot,
I have an Xylotex used board/printer cable/power supply that you can buy from me if you would like.
It was my first board an I don't really use it much anymore since the start of the Phlatprinter using the easy-cnc board.
You are welcome to it, if it will help you get started and it should work fine with the PP but I have not tested it with it, I was using it on a little mill I made.
I will setup a paypal button under the selling showcase if you are interested you can get it there. I'm thinking 75 bucks shipped :?:

Thanks, Mark. I'll think about it. As I said, I was thinking to go with the easy-cnc board. Is there a difference between the two, Mark? You have them both and can make the comparison.

They are both nice boards in my opinion
I always did like the Xylotex board, when I was first starting out I did a lot of research and found that most people in my budget range were using it and it had a good following and still does. The best of course are the Gecko drives but out of my price range. Also keep in mind when I was first starting out in cnc was a while ago. So more people have become manufactures of driver boards since then.
Not to long ago I found the easy-cnc board on ebay while looking for a good driver at a good price and easy-cnc seemed to not only fit the bill but went over the top. I really like the fact that the IC's can be replaced for about 4 bucks and so far we have had little problems with the board. It's nice that can handle most types of steppers, Not to mention we worked a discount for Phlatprinter customers. I really like the layout of this board as well, and it seems to be a good rugged design for addons and future ideas/Mods.
I do feel like the Xylotex was a great board but I also feel that easy-cnc is a good boad as well, but I would have to say I lean more toward easy-cnc at this time, and one of the main reasons is the fact that the owner is willing to work with us to help better our over all design.
Thats my opinion on them both. :)

That's what won me over too. You never know if you'll fry a chip or not and replacing a board for that is not fun.

Hello - I looking for any updated info on the current offerings in the market before I buy my driver board. Most of these posts are a few years old, and many new options out there.. What would you buy today if you were building the MK1 from the kit?

The easy-cnc board only price looks to be $170 with shipping. If you were going to spend the money today what would you recommend?

I would still go with the Easy-CNC board. Then if you want to go usb, get the planetcnc board to control it. If you don't want the usb option go with Mach3 to control it.

Well, I've had some issues with the Easy-Cnc board and lack of customer service. My pp has been down for almost a month now. Mark and Trish have been trying to help, but we have not had much luck getting anything from the manufacturer. I've emailed them twice over the past 3 weeks and they have yet to respond. IMO, I would avoid that board. I know I will not be buying anything else from them.

Silverfox- then what board would you look at?

update - so after some looking I ordered the Probotix drivers boards. They are economical and came very quickly. I will report back after I get my PP built and have some experience

I did order the planet-CNC USB board with my bones Kit - so I will be adding that to the mix.

UPDATE #2 - finally have my MK1 built and operational - Probotix driver boards working perfectly (connected to the CNC USB board) and @ $105 for 3 axis it was a solid value from guys in USA. Len and the Probotix guys were great when I was sorting out my system at first.

Just a quick update @ Silverfox you have new board on the way, it seems Hector(easy-cnc) has been taking on large jobs recently and they are using up his shop and time. This is what we found to be the reason the driver boards have been taking longer to produce lately.
Once again we must apologize for this.

No worries Mark. Like I said, you guys have been doing more than enough and I appreciate it.

The fact that Hector has been taking on large jobs should not relieve him from assisting his current customers. I've tried to contact him multiple times in the past month and he has yet to respond.

The only reason I'm able to get a new board is because Mark and Trish have been pursuing it for me. IMO it took too long for Hector to reply to them. A quick 30 second email would have helped a lot. Simple stating that someone is looking into my problem and that due to high demand lately, it may take a little longer that usual.
