Could certainly be a Vista problem with that particular machine. MicroSoft has really "screwed the pooch" with Vista. I have a full upgrade that came with my AlienWare laptop, but it just sits on the shelf. I installed it once and was not at all pleased with it's performance. In my humble opinion, Vista is bloated and doesn't really offer any real advantages. I'm running XP Media Center on my AlienWare and everything works great (2.4ghz AMD Dual Core, 2gb ram, dual SLI 512mb vid cards). I have everything running sweet on my PP front-end machine (Dell with 2.4 ghz single core Intel P4, 1.2 gb ram, 128mb VidCard, XP Home Edition).

I also have everything working great on my Mac (iBook G4 1.42ghz, 512mb ram, 32mb vid card, OSX 10.4.x)).

Be sure to let us know what your outcome is. You got a lot of people scratching their heads on this.

Well, the XP Professional system seems to be working now. It's an older machine:

    1.60 GHz CPU
    384 MB of RAM

Now I just need to figure out how to use the features. :)

    Just FYI

I have Mach3, Sketchup 7 and The PhlatScript installed on many machines each running the following...

    XP Home
    XP Pro
    Vista 32 and 64 Basic
    Vista 32 and 64 Ultimate

All of which I have had zero prob from.
To top is off I run the PP from a 900mhz laptop. Still no probs.

    Go Figure...

Lieutenant Loughead, i have sketchup and the phlatprinter code installed on my main pc. i have vista-64 bit operating system installed on it. i make all my programs on it, its easier than doing it down in my workshop. i have had zero troubles from the start with marks system concerning his phlatcode and mach-3 on my vista-64. i would suggest you have issues with your harddrive.....get any photos or other files you wanna save, and do a complete format, writing zero's and reinstall your operating system. randy.

Lieutenant Loughead is not the only one having trouble installing phlatscript. I have tried to install as directed, even done all the suggestions here. Some say iinstall here and install there and so forth. None seems to work for me.
I have sketshup 8. Meet all system requirements ect. Just don't work for me.

    Hello,a1000hats

    * First I would Install SU 7.1 from here:
    http://www.phlatforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=96&t=440&start=0
and run 7 instead of 8 as they have taken away the DXF import export feature of 7 in version 8. SU 7 runs stable and is working good with SketchUcam.

    * Download SketchUcam here:
    http://www.phlatforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=98&t=2&start=0

    * Unzip the contents (3 folders and a PDF) directly into your Google Sketchup 7 folder.
Path to put folders(and the PDF) in: C:program Files (x86)GoogleGoogle SketchUp 7
If it ask you to overwrite the existing files, say yes to all merge/overwrite

    * Once you do this, open SU 7 and go to Window >Preferences>Extensions
    and be sure Phlatboyz Tools
    is checked.
If this was not checked you will need to check it and then close SU and re-open it to initiate the Phlatboyz Tools Extension

    * At this point SketchUcam is installed and all you need to do is turn on the tool bar in SU
You do this by going to: View>Toolbars
    and checking Phlatboyz

    Hope this helps

This(ProgramFiles (x86) is because I am running a 64 bit system and have both a standard ProgramFiles folder as well as the ProgramFiles(x86) folder. This is for running both 64 bit software as well as 32 bit.
In a 32 bit system you will only have the ProgramFiles/Google/Google SketchUp 7.
Ok lets see if we can figure this out...

    make sure SketchUp is closed.
First we have to make sure that you have the SketchUcam folders in the right place from the zip file.
So I would suggest that you unzip them again but this time to some where like the desktop. Then open windows explorer (right click start Explore) and navigate to the the C:/ProgramFiles/Google/Google SketchUp 7 folder.

Go to your desktop and select the 3 folders you just unzipped and right click on them. Select cut and right click on the [Google SketchUp 7 folder] and select paste. At this point if it asks if you want to merge/replace any files select the yes option for all files.

Once this is complete we will know that the files are truly there.

The next thing to do is to open Sketchup 7 from the start bar programs list. (This is important and you can make a shortcut for it later if you like)

We will do it this way to be sure that any shortcuts are not pointing to SU8 or even a different version of SU 7
Picking from the start bar ensures that we are picking SU 7.
One thing to be watchful of if you have SketchUp 8 on your system is that if you double click a file it will default to opening that file in SU 8.

Try these things and let me know how you make out.

Does anyone have any direction for a Mac user? I have read just about every post and nothing is helping. Also no matter what link I have tried to visit on the forum to download version 7 of sketchup they are all version 8 now. Is there a specific url or other documentation to get the plugin to work properly.

    THANKS!

Thanks again. I may try again later. One more question. I would be interested in knowing if any one has down loaded sketchuo 7 after the release of 8, and had success with phlatscript?

Yep. I installed 7 on a work laptop after I Fdisked it about 6-8 months ago. Phlatscript went on just fine. I have yet to use 8 as I use the import DXF feature a lot.

@CSJOKER I tried to add the Mac file to the forum, but the extension gave me some problems so now I just keep the link to the older version for the Mac.
You can get SketchUp version 7 for the Mac from here: http://support.google.com/sketchup/bin/ ... swer=60107

    @a1000hats
I am running both 7.1 and 8 on my system and can run the SketchUcam in both of them. I prefer 7 to 8 because they have removed the import dxf/dwg function from 8. I also turn off the update option under preferences so it does not bring up the nag screen asking me to update. Since 7 does all that I need I just stick with it. There are people on the forum here that use 8 only. once of the nice features of SU is that, when you go to save a file you can choose (under file type) what version you want to save as. So its nice to have that backwards compatibility still.

Oh man, I thought this could not be done. I've looked and can not find where to turn it off. Where under preferences did you find it?

I never got the nag-screen about the update so I thought that is was unchecked and looked for it after you posted it here yesterday, Mark, and couldn't find it. Now that you've posted the location I've looked for it again and still couldn't find it. Which explains why I didn't get nagged. :dance3:

Yeah, my Sketchup doesn't show that either. Looks like I need to download that version of 7 then.

Ok it seems some of the guyz may be having a problem installing SketchUcam, because they are unzipping the files to a folder instead of directly into the proper existing folders where they belong. So here are a few screen shots to show you where the 3 folders in the SketchUcam plug in Zip file should be put.
Notice the top bar showing the address locations so you can copy to the same places as well.
You may not have the Programfiles(x86) and just Program files that is fine.
