Is this a kit somewhere else or on another forum? Wondering why the cutout on the back of the wing? Also the floats are set too far aft. Generally the step on the float needs to be just behind the CG.
Did we decide what motor were going to use? My present build with the KF is: 4.6oz. airframe only.....So far........

Lol! I'd go with a 1300 BW with an 8-9" prop. and 2S 800-1300mah for starters. Maybe an 8x4 or 9x4.7?
I am building one also. I think I like the narrow wingtip better than the original design and am having a fit getting the angle and curvature right. I don't know about anyone else, but I had to go into SketchUp and make an "arc" on the edge of the tip that joins the wing so it would fit properly when curved and tilted up. If anyone has a easier method, please let me know. With a straight edge, if you put a curve in the wingtip to match the curve in the wing and then angle it up the LE and TE of the tip pull away from the wing. Do you think the plane will perform just as well without the increased cord on the wingtips? I had to cut one off to get the wing into the fuse anyhow so when I build another I can simply eliminate both of them. Nice job on your build. Waiting for a flight report. Thanks, Chuck
Buk: Thanks Buk , will do.. ---------- el chucko: As for the wing tips, I cut out a 35 degree template and aligned the wing tip to that proper angle. I pined the template on the wing and just aligned the tip. I also used the leading edge (LE) & trailing edge (TE) as a reference and glued those on first. Hope this helps......
I don't mean to sound unsupportive, but this design has negative incidence throughout the main wing panel, and then added chord to the rear, which will result in washin. This is a recipe for major tip stalling. Has anyone else noticed this? Buk, I love the profiles of this plane, but why not get closer to the original? Your modeling friend, Attached files

Wow, thanks Ken. I drew my plans from stills that I captured from the vids and what I found on RCG. The link is great. I thought I had it right but Murphy's law prevails... I'm not sure how much that will affect flight with the UC airfoil and the polyhedral tips. Guess I will have to try it and see.
Buk, It is really going to be wacky! The motor thrust effectively has 5-7 degrees upthrust and you will need alot of up elevator to get the airfoil pushing through the air to provide lift. Its gonna hurt I believe. For the ones that are already built, changing the wing slot can help the incidence, but you still have washin condition at the tips.
I think you're right Ken. I never do pay much attention to the fundamentals when building or designing, I usually stick with the TLAR method. I reckon I just didn't look close enough at this one. Sorry Al.
Buk, If you were to fill in the TE of the wing to be straight across as it is at the poly tips, it should be flyable. Or posibbly better yet, fill in that area with ailerons that are dropped to correct the incidence angle. That may be a good solution for those that already have one built.
Ken, I think the step should be on the top to be more closely to the original wing or to increase the angle of attack at the LE by 1/4". In the plan that I traced I used the lower side of the wing as a benchmark, not the top.
Yoram, As you noticed I used the top as the dominant curve for the airfoil. Also the leading and trailing edge positions. I just don't like to see the step on top, though I have used the KFm2 extensively. More for sport and combat. KFm1 and this varient seem better suited for slow flying. Attached files
Lots of interesting chatter here. Nobody has identified a good starting point for CG if built according to original plans. Mine sits on the floor on the floats and seems pretty darn nose heavy with even a small 2S battery. I will appreciate any recommendations here. Thanks Chuck...somewhere in Indiana...
