Al, Your build looks great. You've really gone to town on it. I have my fuselage and wing done, but I can't find my USB cord to hook my phone to the computer to transfer the photos.
Thanks Glen. I thought that was the case. Well I found a usb cable, so here are my progress pics. Not nearly as far along as Al. Attached files
How are you guys attaching the polyhedral winglets? In the past I run the edge through my scoll saw with the table at an angle..... Just curious how the rest of you are going to do it? Jeremy
Jeremy, I have the KF step set back from the tip so that when the bevel is complete the edges of the main wing are knife and the step is gone. Also the curve of the tip and airfoil create a nice plane to sand to with my paper on a long sanding block.
do you think I might could convince you to post a pic.... Oh... off subject... My mk3 was inherited and I am trying to replace the stepper board... anyone know where I can get a wiring diagram? I accidentally didnt write down the wire order on my z electronics to the board
Hey Ken looking good. I did some reading and seems there were a mention of some down & to the right for the motor. Can you confirm? Thanks
Al, I do have some 3.2 degrees downthrust. Rightthrust can be shimmed as desired. Still working on break times at work to put the finishing touches on mine. Its taking a bit.
Al, I just freed up some servos and another motor esc combo of the same specifications that have all the connectors already terminated. Will get those parts in tomorrow, but still have to finish painting before I am ready to fly.
Maidened the Magnum Reloaded today in the shop Woo Hoo! A very nice tight area flyer. My AUW without any paint and a 2s 850 mAh battery is 11 oz. Can't wait to take it to our indoor facility. Video will be forthcoming,
Al, CG came out at 2.7" from the wing LE. Also added a non-steerable tailwheel in place of the skid. Attached files
Al, Just saw your message about tail heaviness. I am thinking that moving the servos ahead to be over the CG and located in tandem instead of side by side would make for a cleaner and more balanced build for running a BW motor. However at 11 oz. AUW I will stick with the 2208 motor, which happens to balance this bird out very nicely if not a tad nose heavy. I have both the esc and rx in the forward compartment area. Once I put some paint on it will move the CG back a skosh. Another solution would be to develop a box style fuselage. This would take some a bit of mass out of the tail. Adding a spinner, taping the LE for strength and even the nose of the fuselage would add some mass to the nose.
Hey guys, I did a one man video shot of my "Magnum Reloaded" from today... Motor: Blue Wonder / LazerToyz 2712-17 Battery: 2 cell 800 Lipo Servos: 2 - HK / HXT900 Prop" 9x5 Weight: 8.4 oz I had to adjust my battery location and move my motor forward to get the proper CG. Other than that it's a flyer / keeper & lots of fun. Thanks ... Attached files NewMag1.wmv (13.1 MB)Â
This material is Dow High Performance Underlayment. It comes skinned on both sides with the printing on the film which I remove. The film that is. Then I cut the kits.
Nice Job Blindflight! Looks like this is an all around great plane to have in the fleet. Mark and Trish
