On March 2, 2012 a devastating EF-3 tornado swept directly through Main Street of my hometown, West Liberty, Kentucky, Morgan County. The entire town is destroyed. Homes, Hospital, schools, banks, churches, courthouse, City Hall, Fire Dept., Police Dept, restaurants, businesses, community center, waterworks, everything, just gone. Many dead as the body count continues. Hundreds homeless and missing. Many homes have not been found. Tese pictures are of about a 3 mile radius in and around town. The destruction is county-wide. Accessed by the National Weather Service, they said the EF-3 tornado was approx. 1 mile wide and remained on the ground for 34 miles. Please pray for the less fortunate people who lost so much in this disaster. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=pl ... That is horrible... I was thinking a few PF members were near the area, but wasn't sure. Glad your OK. Was your home effected?
Wow! That is terrible. It brings back memories of when the hurricanes came through our neighborhood years ago. I'm glad you guys are ok. My prayers are with you guys.
Buk sorry to hear of this terrible loss. We can see that you loved this town and can't begin to understand what this devastation feels like to you. In a sense this same love is your strength and even though the winds took the building and houses. You have the knowledge of what it was and what is should be as a foundation rooted in your heart and memories. This love is your strength and foundation that no winds can ever destroy. If you have a strong foundation like this, then you can build or rebuild anything on it. 2 Corinthians 5:1 For we know that if the tent that is our earthly home is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. Our prayers are with you, your family and the people of your hometown. God Bless you guys Mark and Trish P.S. If you know of a good place to donate too, that you think will help out. Please post so we can at the least help in some small way. Take care Brother
Hey BUCK, man that's really bad.. Glad your ok... A donation would be good to set up, maybe we can combine monies as a group from the "Phlatboyz"..
Thank you all for your prayers and support, it is greatly appreciated. If you would like to help with a donation (nothing is too small), I have added some links to the first post. Thank you again and God bless you all.
Sorry to hear about the destruction of your town, donation made. The last picture is well done, someone was on their mark settings wise on that one.
Sorry for not updating in a while, electric and internet access has been kinda sporadic. Thanks from me and our town to all those who have donated. We have had great support from all over the U.S. Special thanks to The Phlatboyz. The streets were bull-dozed clear and a massive clean-up has began. Some businesses have setup temp trailers to at least offer phone support such as banks, pharmacies, local doctors. The local hospital is operating the ER only. One of the schools destroyed has setup a temp facility and classes are scheduled to re-start on Monday the 19th. Volunteers have turned out by the thousands to help with the cleanup. Hopefully that goes quickly and the rebuilding can begin. West Liberty, KY. established 1812. Re-established 2012.
