Is there a tutorial that show "Hinges For Dummies" available. I just can't seem to get how to use the centerline tool to set depths.
Use the D key to toggle depth. It will show up in the left hand side of the status bar (bottom of the SU screen) I usually make 5 lines and set: 25% 50% 75% 50% 25% Then when it comes time to put it together, snap at the 75% line, and take a few swipes with a 60 grit sanding bar on the 50% & 25% lines. Makes a nice bevel to tape up.
Thank for the reply, I tried that however when I set one depth all others followed. I drew a line, highligthed it, chose centerline tool, hovered over line which turned green and then set depth and hit okay, did the next one the same and then went to check depth (not sure I did it correctly) and they were the same. I am missing something.
After changing the depth hit the enter key then click on the line. If you want to know if it took you can right click on the line, select attributes and click on get attributes. This will show you the percentage of that line. Also I use the fold line tool for my hinges.
Soooo that's how you see the percentage...dohhhh. I have a few that I was not sure of... made the cuts only to find my 25% fold lines were set to 100 :x FWIW, I don't hit the enter key after changing the line depth, and it works. Is there a way to enter manual depths other than editing the ruby script? Also I guess I use the fold tool as my lines are pink, not green. I don't really pay attention, I just know what tool it is on they tool bar.
To enter custom depths just type the number and hit enter. You will need to hit the enter key for it to take though.
Here is a Thread On talking about control surface bevel cuts.... viewtopic.php?f=147&t=786&p=6208&hilit=how+I+make+hinge+lines#p6208 There is a video and some discussion on what depths and distances to use. This Is how I do it.... Cheers E-T
