I have made good progress with re-building a Phlatprinter III that I obtained from a friend. Just a couple more things to fix. The X Y and Z are calibrated. New roller kit installed and works great. I can cut circles when that are close to true; maybe a few thou off. Basically, it works like it should when cutting foam. So, what is left? Well, the cutting tool is not perpendicular to the foam table. The YZ gantry is pitched forward so that the cutting tool cuts at an angle away from the front; just a few degrees but enough to be seen when cutting slots in 3/4" foam. I have shimmed the bottom of the router by 0.063 and it improves it, but it needs more. The tool is also pitched some to the right and I have no idea how to correct that. So, is there any chance that someone knows how to fix this problem; the right way?
hmmm... thats a new one for me checkers, but I would suggest looking at the Z axis bearings and see if they may be the culprits. I would check to see if maybe the bottom ones are in to far(maybe missing washers). Let me know how you make out and welcome to the Phlatboyz! Mark and Trish
Yes, the Z axis bearings needed a washer. There are supposed to be two in there, according to the build log video. Much better now.
Yes this is an error. The site was updated years ago and some links got corrupted and no longer work.
