Hey guyz, Here are the rough prototype pics of the mini 3D printer that we want to be able to 3D print on the HBOT Pro the idea is to print one for your buddy to have, the XY should be a mini HBOT style as well as a turn table for 3D scanning This one is still a ways off but its a good concept idea and actually was thought up before the HBOT. We need a printer that could handle printing real world size objects and we kept coming back to the HBOT design for it's ability to have a large printing bed and high speed. For the 3D fun pod we are looking to have a print area of 5" to 6" Should be a lot of fun to have this little guy around printing up some of the smaller stuff. BTW this was a 5 hr print on the bottom part of the build and 2 hr on the top parts @ 50mm Mark and Trish

I know that there is desire to do everything on a 3D printer but for large flat sides cutting MDF on a Phlatprinter in minutes instead of hours seems like a more efficient way to go and I assume that the cost of MDF or sheet plastic is cheaper than filament.
Wow, That is really cool. 5 hour print? Do you have to change out the media, or is the enough on the roll/spool?
Your right pagercam about doing this from MDF being way more efficient then the 3D printing especially for production. But I think that some of this type of work would be a step toward a whole new unexplored area (for us) like injection molding! The problem there is the tooling cost. I think the best solution would be to leave the sides off and just build the skeleton kinda like the Phlatbot, is really only a Mendel max without the angle sides. Doing it this way does not give that finished look but I kinda like the robotic wires everywhere metallic look anyways toadsix there is plenty on a spool do do something like this.
