It took a while to get a break away base put on this 'to big to import into sketchup' file off Thingiverse. But I noted how I did it in that object's comments section. Wish I'd had tan filament also. Next time I guess. I'll print up a mount thingy so I can hand it from a rolled up car window.

The print is very life like in size (1 to 1) and visual textures. The phone camera doesn't do it justice, I'll click a good one later.

I really need to spend a month with Blender and see where I end up.

ABS, .2mm layer, .35mm nozzle, 110C HBP, 235C extruder, 80mm/sec accelerated via Sailfish r16-v7.4 print time 3.2 hrs Attached files [IMG]

What I find amazing, 66tbird, is that you don't see the layer lines which I always see in other stuff printed, which is why I haven't gotten me a 3D printer yet.

Looks great 66tbird! Yoram is right your prints look great. I did notice that ABS seems to be better at blending the layer lines then PLA.
For a .2 layer height that looks awesome

P.S. I was able to import it in SketchUp but it took a about a minute to load :)

Thanks Tigerpilot, never fear, printers will only get better.

Good job Mark, How did you get it into Sketchup?

I'm running XP pro, 4GB mem, 3ghz quad core, SK pro

Just selecting that many triangles would kill me. Even if I close out the TV tuner, Firefox, and Outlook. I wish SK would hyperthread :(

    Nice job 66tbird!
The print quality came out nice. Did you use acetone to smooth out the layers? I've read that you can do that with ABS which is pretty cool.

still hopeful for SU 9 or I hear they may call it SU 2013 Im looking forward to seeing what the team has been up to :)
I imported it with the plugin found here:
    https://github.com/SketchUp/sketchup-stl
The SketchUp team contacted Jim Foltz, Nathan Bromham, and Konrad Shroeder, and asked if they would be interested in letting them combine their tools into a single open source plugin. All three responded with a resounding “yes!” - quote on the SU blog

Thanks 3Dmon, nope, no acetone vapor smoothing on this print.

Thank you so much for the plugin Mark, that should help on the Cells Bowl also. RepG has a big issue on high poly count items and just getting them into SK will help me reduce the count.

As promised a better more detailed picture of the yellow hand  Even the finger nail cuticles are spot on. Zoom in to the area around the first two knuckles, the whole print is that finely detailed. He's even got a scar on the side. I'm assuming it's a mans hand. At least I hope so.
