I thought this would be a good place to share resources of programs we find that will convert PDF files to CAD files. In hopes that we can find a shareware version that we all can use to upgrade these cool designs to cut files.
And the cadkas PDF 2 DXF 2.0. It's trial or demo, but not really limited. Just puts some text in the dxf, but you can just delete it. -Kwok viewtopic.php?f=103&t=989
Hiya, If you have Linux or cygwin on Windows, there is a command named pstoedit that can convert a .pdf to a .dxf. Since I am on Windows, here's the cygwin version I found to work: $ pstoedit.exe -f dxf_s in.pdf out.dxf That's it. (Worked for me, anyhow.)
WinTopo is a high quality software application for converting TIF, JPG, PNG, GIF, BMP files and scanned images into useful vector files suitable for CAD, GIS and CNC applications http://www.wintopo.com/
Sure. I just noticed the pstoedit docs say it is able to export g-code, too. http://www.helga-glunz.homepage.t-online.de/pstoedit/
Vector Magic is another cool program that will work with pictures (tracing them) and I am thinking PDFs Its a really a simple but very powerful program. Give it a try http://vectormagic.com/home Mark and Trish
I have been using GSview/PStoedit to do this for a while. It is finicky to get going but works quite well once everything is installed. This explains it pretty well. http://blog.rubypdf.com/2009/11/18/conv ... ostscript/
Probably needs a little more investigation on my part but I don't think .pdf files can be imported into Vector Magic. The online trial failed when I tried to upload a .pdf even though the site says .pdf is supported - strange. But for what it does do, Vector Magic is excellent. Tweakie. Attached files
I use Inkscape. It a pain to use some times. I do not have Mach3 on this computer. I do have AutoCad 2004 on it.
Try this if the pdf was made with a cad program this works every time and it is free. http://www.pdftodxf.com/ You upload your pdf then wait for email for download link and download dxf. It only takes a few min.
