Hello Everyone, I have not posted in quite awhile. However, here is a real sweet bird. Been a hit at our indoor facility, the Ultimate Soccer Arena in Potiac, MI. You will need a wing bake jig to build this proper. The cut file is set up for a 1/16" cutter and Dow Protection Board III. The plans and build sequence photos are here http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost ... tcount=115 I will post the cut files in this forum only, along with the Sketchup file. I also offer this as a foam only kit shipped to the 48 contigeous United States for $27. That includes baked wings. It can be ordered through Paypal at kenmorganneal@aol.com. Please note in the message box what you are ordering. Ken Attached files Blu Rascal 36ws 3D model.skp (2.9 MB)Â Blu Rascal 36ws cut patterns.skp (2.1 MB)Â Blu Rascal 36ws.cnc (93.6 KB)Â
Woo Hoo! Front page of the Phlatforum. Thanks. In the coming weeks I will be posting alot more designs that have finally stabilized. You are sure to enjoy. Ken
Hi Ken Outstanding job - always loved the shape of this aircraft - very sexy. I can feel a build coming on Cheers Neil
Wow Ken this is an awesome looking build. Is there any way you can give out the dimensions of the wing baking jig?
Nice one Ken, I've always loved the Rascal. I haven't used my Wing Baking Jig since my Frog building days.I might have to brush the dust off and put it back to use.
Yes, they are really quite simple to build. here is a link to some pictures I posted at RCGroups, http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showpost ... tcount=197 This unit measures 20" span x 10" chord. Overall width in the chord direction is 12". It is constructed from 3/4" plywood and aluminum flashing stock (that can be purchased from The Home Depot). The metal is formed to fit the jig and screwed down in six places. Then the carriage bolts (5/16-18 x 2.5") come through in four places. Now the upper clamping skin is attached with screws also, to the hold down bars. Then top it all off with some washers and wing nuts. This is not a bad jig. However, I am currently designing what is I believe a better jig for my purposes. The new design will bake two wing panels simultaneously and be like the bottom form on both sides. Whatever you do, do not use adhesives in its construction. These will decay under the oven temperatures (200 degrees F). Some epoxies are rated for much higher temps, but who wants to get the household in an uproar. Also build yours to the maximum the will fit in your oven. Whenever I am baking a wing, there is no smell or odor, and my better half is happy about that. Ken
With some help from Navionflyer I built this beauty for my older Brother. It's almost done and it flies great for a rudder/elevator plane. Powered by a Eflite 300 and a 7x5 APC electric prop. Mudman1959 Attached files
Well guess what? We have Fraternal twins... I have been working on a second Rascal, Started applying the paint and next comes the electrics... Mudman1959 Attached files
Your builds are incredible Mudman! This is another beauty bro Hope the maiden goes awesome for you. Mark and Trish
Due to the way I built my Rascal and it having a fairly flat wing with little to no dihedral I decided to add ailerons to the wing. With just the Rudder for turning control and no dihedral the plane wanted to snap roll just a bit. I also added a bit of weight to the nose. Also buried deep inside is the Flight Stabilization unit I bought from HobbyKing. Waiting for better weather and less wind to give it it's first stabilized assisted flight... Mudman1959
