at this point I really have no idea what you have done wrong! what do you mean by 'main folder'? maybe you can post a screen capture of what you see (press 'print screen' key and paste the image) just to confirm the install process: you save the .rbz file from this web site, should result in a single file called SketchUcam-1_1b.rbz you open sketchup you select Window, preferences, Extensions you click 'install extension' you select the .rbz file that you downloaded earlier you click 'open' button you click 'yes' when prompted by the 'this plugin will have the ability to do useful stuff' warning panel. you click 'ok' when it says 'the selected extension has been successfully installed' you click 'ok' Everytime I do the above, on a variety of machines with different operating systems and different Sketchup versions, it results in SketchUcam being installed and the toolbars appear. (note: If you had a previous version of 1_1 installed, you need to restart Sketchup after the upgrade install)
nothing to do with the strings file, Mac just cannot show the HTML based menu properly unless you do a lot of jumping around configuring Internet Explorer. much easier is to configure your MyConstants.rb file as explained in the first post in this thread !!!!!
It wasn't listed as MyConstrants.rb. It was Constrants.rb. I searched trying to find the MyConstrants... once I found the new file name I was able to fix it. Thanks for the help. Orion
Here is the location for anyone needing it in the future for Mac. /Users/"User Name"/Library/Application Support/SketchUp 2013/SketchUp/Plugins/Phlatboyz Constrants.rb
please please go and read the entire first post. It clearly points out how to configure for Mac/Linux by adjusting the MyConstants.rb file which YOU CREATE from the MyConstants-example.rb file. Later posts explain Mac configuration in more detail. Do NOT change Constants.rb because it will get overwritten every time you upgrade SketchUcam.
SketchUcam 1.1c released! This release replaces previous releases and contains the following features: Setup Profiles Menu items Tools|Phlatboyz|Save Profile Tools|Phlatboyz|Load Profile Tools|Phlatboyz|Delete Buttons on Parameters webdialog Saves and loads the following variables spindlespeed feedrate plungerate cutfactor bitdiameter tabwidth tabdepth safetravel usemultipass multipassdepth gen3d stepover materialthickness (optional - see MyConstants-example.rb) After a load, the comment parameter will read "Loaded profile NAME" where NAME is the name of the profile. Profile names must not have spaces or punctuation in them, but can be as long as 250 characters. CW/CWW choices for plunge holes and pockets Set one or more of Use_pocket_CW = false Use_plunge_CW = false to true to get CW cuts on pockets and plunge holes respectively. Normally these will cut CCW to use climb-milling but if the machine is not stiff enough CW will give a better finish. The overhead gantry setting will not affect this. Phlatprinter outfeed option Set Use_outfeed = false to true to use the outfeed feature. This is ONLY for Phlatprinters. Normally a Phlatprinter will go to 'home' at the end of a job, which means that the material is sticking out the back of the machine. Setting this option to true causes the material to be fed forward out of the machine to 75% of the material 'safe length'. This should make it easier to remove at the end of a job. Options Summary Menu Tools|Phlatboyz|Options Summary Shows a dialog box with a list of options settable in MyConstants.rb, and their current values. Pocket zigzag direction Default setting in MyConstants.rb allows you to set this to whatever your preference is. Press END key to toggle after selecting tool. CTRL and SHIFT still select inner and outer as usual. Phlatbones Tool diameter setting improved: Correctly detects inch/mm mode and uses appropriate units Adds 0.01" to bit diameter and rounds result to 3 digits Help updated extensively. Parameters tool 'restore defaults' bug fixed Download link is in the first post of this thread. After upgrading please restart Sketchup.
I cannot find the plugins folder for sketchup 2014. I want to start to make milled pockets, but need to install the SketchUcam plugin. Any ideas? Here is the install location, and there is no plugins folder like previous version.
SketchUp 2014 now puts the Plugins folder in the user profile. On my box (Windows 7) the path is: C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\SketchUp\SketchUp 2014\SketchUp\Plugins The easiest way to install the plugin is to open SketchUp, go to Window, Preferences, Extensions, and Install Extension. Note that you'll probably get an error the first time you open it after the sketchucam plugin is installed. See this thread for the fix: http://www.phlatforum.com/xenforo/threads/sketchup-2014-sketchucam-bugs.3274/
or better yet, set the permissions first, then install using the install instructions in the first post in this thread, then restart sketchup.
I loaded Sketchup 2014 and then loaded 1.1c. Once I edited the $f things seemed fine. When I bring in a design from a previous version of Sketchup (2013) it comes in with just a few black lines, but all of the faces and phlatlines. I tried exploding it and flattening the selected edges but that does not bring back the outlines. Can you have a look - I removed Sketchup 2013 from my machine...
I get the same thing in 2013 and 2014, some edges are not drawn (actually drawn in white), though they do exist in the drawing. I messed around with style settings and so on and I conclude that you had some material or style set up in 2013 that you have not transferred to 2014. maybe you can restore it from your backups. http://help.sketchup.com/en/article/3000029 a way to make the edges draw in black is to explicitly set the colors. (I see the missing ones as drawn in white) explode all the groups (or select each one and select 'edit group') select a face right click, select, select bounding edges right click, entity info select the square (mine shows a question mark) at top left select the black 'material_1' and all the edges should show as black. this is not a Sketchucam bug BTW check for the new version of SketchUcam 1.1D on Friday, which caters for a number of issues in Make2014
SketchUcam 1.1d released! Added Group Summary dialog, shows groups in cut order Compatible with Sketchup Make 2014
Thanks Swafer! I just loaded up 1.1d I couldn't find the files that you recommended to delete, so I just loaded 1.1d on top of what I had already. I see that there is now a 'groups Summary' in the tools/phlatboyz' pull down window so I guess the load went ok. I got my black edges back, thanks ! It made all of my cut lines black as well . I'll redo them - ot will give me a chance to experiment with your 1.1d tools.
I have something a bit weird going on. I deleted all of my cuts and redid them, then I regrouped and created the g-code. When the Gplot came up (longish 40sec delay) it was missing the outside cut for the stabilizer and elevator. I ungrouped, deleted the cuts and tabs and redid them. Then I recreated the Gcode and looked at it in gplot. It looked fine. I then grouped the stabilizer and generated the gcode, the gplot again tyood a while to pop up, when it did the outside cuts were again missing. I am attaching the skp file without grouping the stabilizer so you can try to recreate the problem... An additional oddity is that when I click on the the Gplot nothing will happen for a while, but if I click on it again the plot will pop up right away, and then a bit later a second plot will pop up. (they should have a scratch your head smiley face)
The new versions does a much better job of optimizing the cuts - without the need to group everything first, which is great. I have found that I need to make sure I save my work regularly, 14 seems to crash a lot.
in Sketchup, click Windows|Styles|Edit and select 'by material' next to 'color'. this should give you back the cut line colors without having to regenerate all of it. the colors change to black because of style settings, nothing to do with Sketchucam itself.
yeah we know. this is a new 'feature' in Make2014. click the Show Gcode menu item, then click anywhere in the drawing and the gcode will pop up immediately. no doubt this will get a bug fix soon.
on should save regularly anyway (-: my universal rules for saving: CTRL-S saves is just about every package. do it now. do it when: the fone rings you stop to ponder you start a new paragraph something distracts you (bird flies past window, dog barks, etc) you think 'i should save soon' the lights flicker something you clicked didn't do what you expected. optimizing: I've been working on this for a while. what you're seeing is that you have now redrawn the cut lines in a much more efficient manner than when you first did it. the cuts get cut in the draw order unless grouped. within a group they get cut in draw order, inside before outside. centerline, fold lines and holes get grouped together automatically (within a real group). for any cut line, the closet point to the end of the previous line is found and used as the start point. this mostly works well but can create some odd things with intersecting centerlines which may require you to group them, or even use the fredo6 bezier tool to 'create polyline', remove any extraneous points, and then apply centreline cut to it. get the bezier tool here http://sketchucation.com/pluginstore?pln=BezierSpline
Thanks Swafer - your the man! I'm also having an ongoing issue with fold lines. I type in 50% and create the cut lines, but when I cut it out it cuts at full depth (this has nothing to do with 1.1d as I was seeing this problem before) I have better luck with the center line tool. With the fold tool I type in 50 in the bottom right window and click on the line (50 strays in the window), I click on another line (50 still stays in the measurement window). When I do a get attributes on the fold line it says 99%. If I use the right arrow and select 50% instead of typing 50 the fold cut depth is ok. On another point, what is the difference between centerline and fold line?
