Hey guyz, I made this the other day and thought you might like it. It serves no real purpose (except help me get back in the swing of things here) I was going to make it into a tutorial, but ended up not because I had to use another program for the pocketing. I did the cutout with SketchUcam and the pockets in ArtCAM. I really just think its cool and wanted to make it Its a MAD magazine SPY vs. SPY drawing cutout. I always liked them they were always trying to find clever ways to get to each other and this picture pretty much sums it up. Its made from poster board which is a real paint to sand all the fuzz off of once cut. You may be better off using depron or maybe try different bits on the posterboard. I am still looking for that magic 1/8th bit that will not leave a fuzzy edge on poster board. If anyone knows of one, please post Start with a Red marker and run step 1.cnc then a black marker for step 2.cnc and finally the cut out.cnc using a 1/8th bit. You guys may want to slow it down a little on the drawings, I missed a few steps right at the end of the drawing. I am going to keep it in the PhlatSHOP just to for the enjoyment of looking at it You can read more anout Spy vs. Spy here. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spy_vs._Spy I can't believe these guys have not become a movie yet, they would be great! Enjoy Mark and Trish Attached files SPYvsSPY2.skp (6.2 MB)Â SPYvsSPY2_Step1_RED.cnc (89.7 KB)Â SPYvsSPY2_Step2_BLACK.cnc (407.1 KB)Â SPYvsSPY2_Step3_CUTOUT.cnc (53.5 KB)Â
Love it! Glad to see you are doing your best to get back in the swing of things. I'd love to find a bit that handles posterboard (cleanly) as well. Wish there was an option for us out there...
I was just thinking a couple of days ago about Spy vs. Spy and wondered why they haven't done a movie too. Cool stuff Mark!
The original file crashes Sketchup when the group of hatch lines is exploded (there are thousands of lines!). Here is a fixed file with the hatch lines removed and some example pockets added using the new 'FLOOD' pocket method.
