i got the build you cnc v.1.3 cut from the files on his website. it cut 60 to 70 ipm with 1/2" allthread from lowes would be faster if had better threaded rod.im running mach3 on a hobby cnc pro board with 305oz steppers Attached files
Nice looking machine! I've looked at that setup a few different times. I think one day I might have to go the Phlatbed route.
That looks great Jeff! Nice job Does your machine have two steppers on the x? Looks very sturdy the way the bearings are set up on the L angle Mark
3d mon thanks he released the cnc files for this one when he started his new design 7up i cut 3/4 mdf foam and tryed engraving pictures in whitepine using cambam kram242 it very sturdy and it does have 2 steppers on the x would like to try the rolller chain he useing on his new one says can get rapids 1000-1500 ipm
Are these plans free? This is the same guy that designed the "BlackToe" CNC right? I like the design of teh Gantry on this one.
ITS THE SAME GUY THATS DOING THE BLACK TOE HE RELEASED THE CNC FILES FOR THE 1.3 WHEN HE STARTED DOING THE BLACK TOE I DONT THANK THERE ARE PLANS. HERES A LINK TO THE CNC FILES http://buildyourcnc.com/cnckit2.aspx
just finished my tunnel shoe thanks for the idea crash its seems to work good with my shop vac. also buildt a cyclone fillter to keep the fillter in the shop vac clear Attached files
Very cool shoe! Isn't it nice to not have all that dust floating around? LOL I am intending to work up a cyclone/separator sometime soon, too. Do you have a link for that?
thanks crash i found sevral of them http://lumberjocks.com/SimonSKL/blog/10097 this is what i did mine from but i added 8" to the top and put a spiral in the top. http://www.billpentz.com/Woodworking/Cy ... nePlan.cfm this one has the most info i could find on them http://www.cnczone.com/forums/showthread.php?t=51385 i like this one with it being clear. http://home.comcast.net/~rodec/woodwork ... tails.html this one looks ease to make.
i did one test cut and it seem go catch all dust and i didnt add a curtain or brushes yet. i made the shoe out of 3/4 mdf and plexyglass.most inportant no whistling.
For a simpler separator, take a look at http://www.cgallery.com/jpthien/cy.htm . Just a couple of flat cutouts (mine is 5/8" plywood top and 1/4 masonite for the baffle), left-over threaded rod, and some PVC pipe street elbows. Took me maybe 40 minutes start-to-finish. I was looking at building up a cyclone and looked at Bill Pentzs's site myself, but it seemed to need an awful lot of power (big HP electric motor), so I looked for an interim solution. This separator seems to get 85-95% of the benefit of the cyclone at a sub-$50 DIY price point (and that includes the new trash can I bought to do mine) using my existing shop vac for power. The design also seems to scale well anywhere from a 5-gallon bucket up to a full blown (pardon the pun) dust collection system. Seemed to do great on the dust from the phlatprinter as well. Now I just need to find a flexible vacuum hose I can build semi-permanent attachment into the phlattie.
ttraband i alllmost did that one untill i found the one on lumberjocks and thought I had to have a cyclone just looks cooler. I thank i spent less than 40.00 on it.
Looks great, I have made it that far now, thanks. Now for that bed that you have, and those lockdowns....
for the bed i cut 2" stips of 34 mdf and set them on the side and cut a table to fit. for the foam holder just buildt a frame that fits around a sheet of foam and drill holes to bolt it to the table
I am almost done. But I am not quite sure how to get the Y axix set up. I watched the video dude made for putting it together and he says that on the gantry pieces, you should have the countersunk holes facing inward, if I do that, I have no way of holding the bearings and bolt.
