    Hey Guyz!

Here is a bird house design we are working on for my sisters for a Christmas present this year.

This is cut from 1/4" (.200) Luan using copper rolled sheets for the roof.
We will be using wood glue to hold it all together and painting all the parts white. The lower (smaller) roofs are going to have cedar shake nailed to them. We will also use finish nails in other spots that may need it.
The base that wraps the 4x4 post will be cut from 1/2 pine and painted white and the 4 small corbels will be bought from the hardware store and these things will be added after the birdhouse is mounted in place.
    Enjoy
    Mark and Trish
    p.s. I have not cut this out yet, but will post pics when we do :) Attached files [IMG] BirdHouse.skp (2.5 MB)Â [IMG] [IMG] BirdHouse_1.cnc (64.2 KB)Â BirdHouse_2.cnc (22.8 KB)Â [IMG] CUT1_BirdHouse.dxf (177.4 KB)Â CUT2_BirdHouse.dxf (566 KB)Â

    Hey guyz,
Dad and I got some progress on the Birdhouse today :good:
We could not find the copper sheets but we did find copper flashing so we are making do with what we have :)

Mark, the leftover copper flashing would be good to make a squirrel/rats skirt. Without it the condo will be raided :D

The birdhouse is awesome, but I don't think I've seen your big-dog CNC before so that caught my eye too. :D

    Hey guyz,
Almost complete! A few more touch-ups here and there but for the most part done :)
For the lower roofs we used Nelson shims from Lowes

We stained them with cheery minwax stain and it looks a lot like cedar. We also cut these down to get the proper scale look.
It will take two packs and the cut offs were used for the peak caps.
The copper flashing was not nice to work with as everything left a ding or scratch and it had no real stiffness to it. If I had to do it over I would look for copper sheets in place of the flashing. I think it would be much easier to work with.
We used two coats of white (spray can) primer and then two coats of gloss white spray as well. We caulked any seams and holes using a dab of water on the finger to smooth out the caulk.

We then went back with one more quick coat of the gloss white to blend the caulk in.

Over all have to say a very cool project! I got a chance to work alongside my Dad and as a plus this birdhouse condo is sure to make one of the Sisters happy :good:

chozer, that is awesome bro! Nice job

Dave, she truly is the great huntress of Lake Gilman. She has caught some many vole and birds here I have lost count and last night we came home to see her crouched over a flying squirrel!(not that common here) She did not kill it :good: but it was real tried. We sent her in the house and went back for the squirrel but it had already escaped. We did get some pics while it was on the side of the house.

Nice work..I want to ask you that is this a wood or MDF you have been used for preparing this house. The house seems to be a compact one but prepared perfectly. Wonderful place for a birds and definitely they will enjoy in it.
