When I save a sketchup file it saves it as a .SKB which is what I want. When I change the drawing to sketchucam it saves the file to a .cnc extension with a large sketchuo logo. I can't open this file and sketchup says it is not a sketchup file. I don't know how to open a cnc file. Is this the default for sketchucam?

Just so I don't get the read the manual advice, I have gone into the file options and changed the top two to a skp file but I still get a non sketchup file with the sketchup logo.

The .cnc file is a gcode file generated from Sketchucam. Sketchup can not view a gcode file. You need a gcode viewer to see that file. Also the .skb is a backup file for Sketchup. The .skp is the one you should be opening for your Sketchup file.

John do a google search for "Basic CNC Viewer" you have to play with it, it's a good viewer plus free.

Hmm...I guess someone DIDN'T read the manuals.

Quote from the help file (manuals):
"SketchUcam is provided with the Gplot program to visualize the G-code that you have output from your drawing"

A sketchup file has an extension of .SKP and is contains codes that only Sketchup understands.

A G-code file contains plain text instructions that CNC controllers understand. Common extensions are .nc .cnc .ngc

The SketchUcam 'Generate Gcode' button generates Gcode from the drawing.

The Gcode can be previwed using the GPlot progam, after generating Gcode you can open the file you just generated by using the
    Plugins|Plot G-code menu (Sketchup 2016 and earlier)
    Extensions|Plot G-code (Sketchup 2017).

    You should watch this:
