Ok, I started building my 2x4 Flatbed CNC Router this evening. I have completed the Z axis, except for the alum. channel rails that I am waiting for.

I just thought I would post a couple of pictures of my cyclone Dust seperator system. I used 4 lengths of allthread, and 2 pieces of plywood to hold the weight, bolted the collector unit to the rafter of the shop.

Check it out! Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

Looks great crash 5050! The cyclone separator is the best way to go in my opinion.
Do you have an easy way to empty the can though? It looks like you would need to unbolt it to get to it from the pics.

Details Details Details, hehehe two bolts from the rafter will allow the whole thing to pick up. It should take a while to fill up a 33 gallon can of dust though. The intital design was to use 1 1/4 x 1/8th angle to make a frame with slots so all I had to do was loosen the bolts in the slots and raise the entire thing. But the welding shop wouldn't do such a little job, they had bigger gas wells to fry. I am going to get a welder this weekend from Harbor Freight and try my hand at it, it has been 15 years since I Tig Welded.

Here is my Hitachi 12VC Router mounted to my K2CNC Alum. Router mount, attached to the new Z axis back plate and the CNCrouterparts Linear motion rails. And the dust shoe to connect to the big cyclone system.

Do you have any sketchup plans for this or pdfs to view? I'm curious to see how this thing will look once you are done.

I completely understand if you don't want or can't share that kind of information.

I do have a question about your Y axis build. It looks like the Y axis is built with one vertical piece of mdf. The others that I've been looking at have a torsion box style Y axis. Is that over kill on their part?

You know I have abandoned the MDF build and am now working toward an 8020 all aluminum build?

how much is that 8020 material?

I've been a carpenter for 20+ years so it hard for me not to build the mdf one. LOL I am going to start building the torsion box for the bed in may. Right now I am in the middle of a pop up camper remodel that has to be finished before mothers day weekend.
