Cutting angles in the Z direction

    Hi,
    I'm a total newbie to CNC routing and have just set up my OX and routed my first design earlier today (just my daughter's name with the centerline tool in a piece of MDF). For my first project I'd like to create a custom 4-gang wall plate out of 5.7mm polycarbonate. I'm wondering if the Phlat tools (SketchUCAM) can create angles in the Z direction so I can round off the Z-to-X and Z-to-Y corners like a typical wall plate. Any help is much appreciated.

    If it were me, I'd use a 90 degree "V bit" and go around the part like usual to cut a 45 degree bevel all the way around it. You'll have to do some measurements to get the depth right, or just trial and error until you like it.

    yes and no.
    yes, you can try the 3D cut function. but be warned, it sucks (read the help).
    yes, you can use a round over router bit to form the round edge. (see note)
    no, SketchUcam focusses on 2.5D cutting, which it does very well, so will not natively cut round edges without using a roundover bit.

    NOTE:
    to calculate the correct depth and offset, draw a 1:1 scale side view of the work, and the bit and from that you can measure the offset to the bit centerline (use twice that as the 'bit diameter') and the depth from surface of material to tip of the bit, use that as the material thickness and 100% cut depth. you will have to add this cutline to a copy of your drawing.
