dimples on planes

    i was watching mythbuster a couple of months ago and they put clay around a car and got the gas milage and then cut dimples all around it and found it got better gas milage could that be applyed to a plane.

    I always wondered why they put the little dimples on golf balls, maybe they fly better/further with them? Interesting idea-

    OK , so I guess my idea of finding silicone rubber sleeves is out of the questions for the pressure rollers! :mrgreen: I have been baffled that my kitted planes come with an unusual amount of dimples from the sandpaper, coating the pressure and feed rollers.. It is unsightly but now I have a fighting chance with my customers that this is in fact a good thing LOL Thanks for the find Jeff!!!

    I think the dimples are only effective when the subject is also rotating into the airflow. If this really worked for cars and planes you would have already seen it in production or at least in a race environment.
