Originally this was a profile that I designed and flew a lot. On the profile the tail twisted a lot and I didn't like the idea of bracing it up so I figured I would make it into a full fuse instead. I'm glad I did, because it flies so much better. This lightweight version is best flown with a 3s 500-800 mah 20c lipo with a 24 gram 1300kv "blue wonder" type outrunner motor swinging a 9 x 4.7 APC slowfly prop and the normal (fanfold version) actually flies well on the same power sytem as the light weight version but when I first designed the plane it was flying on a park 370 type outrunner with a 800 - 1300mah 3s lipo. It flies good with the heavier setup but flies a lot better with the lighter power setup.

Looks like this would fly very well... have to put it on my ever growing list of too many planes, too little time things to do.

Shaun, I love when you take pics of your design sitting on the Phlatprinter! Thank you for that :)
The paint looks awesome! Have you had the chance to maiden it yet?

This plane has flown a lot Mark. I designed it about a month ago. I did get to fly it yesterday after painting it though, and it does look better in the air now.

i cant belive this isnt a more active thread!
why has no one built this amazing plane!?
well i did, i built this plane about a week ago (yeah i know its taken me a while to post) and flew it the same day.
    it was AWESOME!
i think everyone needs one of these in their hanger. :)
i flew it the day i built it and couldnt get enough, it was in the air for at least 20 min, i killed 2 whole batteries!
so then i flew it again the next day and gave it a nice nose dive right into the ground :(
    "aww bummer"
anyways i love the way this plane flies and would love to see other peoples build stories for this plane
as i was building i came up wit ha new way of making push rods that i might make a whole different thread for cause i think its a good idea Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Thanks for the awesome comments Alex. I'm really happy you like the plane.

I will be building another one really soon and will get some video up of what this bad boy can do.

Nice job on the rebuild Alex!
Your right, this should be a more active thread too, this is one nice looking plane.
Looking forward to seeing your idea with the push rods

I have my cg about 1/4" behind the spar which is a good spot for 3d. Sport flying you would be good at the spar.
Looking forward to hearing your results.

I have built, flown and destroyed lots of these lil' rippers. They fly great, I use a Park 480 on mine with a 10*6 prop, 3s 2200 mak, makes it a little heavy but it will hover at 1/4 throttle.

Wow, I bet that does fly heavy. I've now been flying mine with a blue wonder spinning a 9x4.7 on a 3s 600mah pack. Looks like we got both extremes lol. 1/4 throttle hover can make for some fun flights though I bet.

My blue wonder setup hovers at half throttle with ease.

Thanks for the flight reports guys.

I am going to use a 24g blue wonder and 3s 500 battery, where would the approx location for the battery be?

All the way to the front. My latest files that I've been reworking have a horizontal plate that goes in front of the wing for the battery to sit on. It's not necessary but helps strengthen the front and gives a good place to put the battery. If you don't want to add a plate you could just put some velcro on the inside side wall of the fuse up front and that would work fine too.

I would post the plate but a couple of other things have changed to where it would not fit right with this version. Basically though you could cut another top hatch and cut away the front and back portions so it would fit right up against the firewall and butt up against the front of the wing.

    Flight Report:

This little plane has a really solid feel about it. Everything was going fine until my battery fell out!!!!

In my rush to get this little baby flyin, I didn't pay enough attention to securing it (obviously..)
and a particularly violent aerobatic move was enough to work it free...

Amazingly, the airframe just floated down and landed in the cornfield!!

After my great escape, I decided to apply a little paint using my patented Depron protection system. I.e. cover with a coat of clear matt acrylic varnish and then use anything. Unfortunately, my patented depron protection system doesn't work worth a darn.

Result? Looks like I dipped it in battery acid!!.

I think it'll still fly, but I reckon it's time to build another.

From the flying perspective, It went very well on my powerset.

Glad you liked the way it flew Bosher.
Bummer about the battery. I just have mine sitting on a piece of velcro and it has never ejected. I guess you really put some g's on it lol.

Bummer about the paint too. I've had that happen as well.
