    Phlatprinter III Guides Assembly Instructions
    Hey Guyz,
As you may know some of the newer version of the Phlatprinter III incorporated a guide system that helps to align smaller materials like balsa wood strips. to the center of the machine. We did not have time to add the build instructions to the build videos but they are pretty straight forward to make. Here are a few pics and descriptions to help you out in making the Phlatprinter III guides.
    Hope this is a help
    Mark and Trish

Make sure that you run your material through (back and forth on the X axis) a few times to ensure there will be no binding through out the cut.
NOTE: I do not use the guides on 1/4" foam but use it on thicker foam that has straight sides to ride on the guides. You may find it works for you
    .

*You can use Kapton tape but its expensive. If you do use this you may want to choose the 1/4" strips and stack the tape up the sides of the guides. Here is the 1/4" part number 7648A711
    Kapton Tape: http://www.mcmaster.com/#kapton-polyimide-tape/=jd0b9m

*You could also use candle and rub it on the sides of the guides as well. The idea is to make a slippy surface for the material to slide against.

How difficult would it be for original mk3 users to retrofit these guides? I have been using the c-clamp trick lately.

    Hi Jeremy,
We make a drop in upgrade. We were going to put this on the store as an upgrade for the guyz that wanted the guides for the MK3's. It comes with the guides and the C16 cutting surface with the slots. We just did not get the time to do it.
If you or anybody else is interested in a guide upgrade kit let us know phlatboyz@phlatboyz.com
The price is 35 bucks + shipping
    Thank you
    Mark and Trish

Does the just sit on top of the original "plate" or flat surface, or do you need to replace that surface for this to work?

You need to to replace your c-16 cutting surface with the one that comes with the guide kit.
Just take out the old cutting surface and slide in the upgrade and you're good to go. :D

    Hope this helps.

    G'day Mark,
I was wondering as I'm stuck here in Australia, could I get a set of plans for this upgrade? I'm willing to pay for the design. I just finished upgrading it to hold a tile router and is cutting through mdf like butter. But I'm having so many isssues with the skewing of the material..

    Cheers,
    PEZ

I've been out of the game for a while. Did this turn out to be the solution for the skewing problems on the PP3?
