Here are a few different renders of paint scheme ideas for the MKII
I will be adding more as I can
These are hi-res pics so be sure to click them to open them in full view :)
Also added a plain while clay render for you to photo-shop your own colors over to see what paint scheme you like.
    Enjoy
    Mark

    Wow, Mark! That's SWEEEEEEEET!

I'm diggin on the red one, of course.

Now the question is, what kind of paint and primer should be used? I bet Randy will chime in shortly. :D I was thinking he used Kilz for the primer and one of the two-part catalytic paints on his.

Cool guys glad you like them I thought It may give you some ideas on paint
The texture for the red (and most) is actually car paint :) so I think it could be done :D
I am still adding more so keep checking ;)

I'm biased to the Storm trooper :D . White with the cabon look would be nice looking too.

Actually Randy, it seems to be a scientific fact that women can differentiate shades of color better than men - especially reds. I read about in Scientific American magazine, a couple issues ago. :)
And they look good, too! [IMG]

Man Mark these renders look sweet! Did you use SketchUp to render these? I like the Bumble Bee theme the best. I like when the II is in black so it pops out visually.

    Thanks guys,
I used a program called kerkythea, its free and it integrates into Sketchup but works as a stand alone render. Its really nice. I just started messing with it a little today and picked it up pretty quick. There is a lot more I could do to make it nicer but the render times are huge when you start picking higher settings.

Once we ship the MK II's, we are planning on painting ours. We haven't settled on a color yet but Mark seems to be leaning towards Kawasaki green. We also plan on painting ours fully built rather than before.

We can't wait to see yours foamlvr! We are getting very close.

Mark's Dad had a real good idea. He suggested taking the parts down to the automotive store and have them paint it. The paint job would be perfect! Only consideration is that they would paint over the part numbers...

There is a franchise in northern California called "Miracle Auto Painting and Body Repair." (true) .
Their motto should be, "If it's a good paint job, it's a Miracle!" (truth in advertising)

gasmasher, lmao (aint it the truth) Friend of mine drove his car to Maaco, stripped of everything he didn't want painted, when he got there he masked the windows and mirrors, then wiped it down with wax and grease remover, the next day he went to pick up the car, the paint job looked great, even on the license plate he forgot to remove

Ok guys I am finished with the primer stage and had a question maybe you guys can help with.
Should I sand the primer before the paint goes on?
If so, should I then wipe the sanding dust off with something?
Thanks guys this painting stuff is all greek to me :)

yea mark....sand very, very lightly. it will help the finish coat stick better, and smooth the surface a lil if there is some "buggers". then wipe down with a tack cloth, or what i do is use some paper towel a lil damp with alcohol. lookin great man. randy.

Cool! thank you for this info Randy! I do have some buggers on there and just wanted to be sure that I could sand them off. I also rub my hand across the parts a get an over spray dust that I thought should be taken off.
Thanks again brother, this was a big help for me :)
