My install (Mac) went flawlessly. Thanks!

However, I am not getting any 'meaningful gcode generated. If I draw a box and save the gcode as one_box.cnc then draw two boxes and save that as two_box.cnc the gcode looks exactly the same. Don't know if it matters, but I cannot seem to create a safe zone. If I do try to create a safe zone I can only make a tiny box that does not allow sizing.

Any advise? Basically, no matter what I seem to do I always get this output:

    Code:
    %
    (Generated by SketchUcam {1.1d})
    (Bit diameter: 1/8")
    (Feed rate: 8' 4"/min)
    (Material Thickness: 1/4")
    (Material length: 1' 10" X width: 3' 6")
    (Overhead Gantry: false)
(Retract feed rate NOT limited to plunge feed rate)
    (Optimization is ON)

OK, me again (from above) with more data. I still can't resize the safe area, but I am able to zoom in far enough to place some test objects inside it. Same result; no change in the gcode.

Also, I was reading up on the plug in for the Mac and common issues. My SketchUcam parameters do display but it takes some time for the window to populate. Regarding changes to the .rb config file.... the comments seem to be around making changes in SketchUcam 2013. I have 2014 and even displaying hidden files from my Mac terminal program (ls -a) I do not see any .rb config files.

So, still, no matter what I draw I get the same gcode output.

    Thanks!

Voltar, I moved your posts to the help section as it is a better place to get help.
It would help if you could attach your Sketchup file and/or a screen shot of what your seeing on your screen so we can better help you.

Voltar, did you place the part in the 'safe area'? You get that kind of output normally if the part is not in the safe area.

First off, many thanks for the reply.

Yes. I placed the 'square' in the safe area. I have read several quirks about the Mac, so I am going to give it a go on a Windows XP machine.

OK, back from the Windows XP install.... Same issue. Regardless of if I draw one box or two boxes or whatever, I get the same GCODE out. Attached is a screen shot of my SketchUP; maybe that can help.

Also, could anyone send me a SketchUp file that produces a valid GCODE output with the SketchUCam tool? At least that way I can narrow things down some as far as what the issue may be. I am guessing it is user error on my side.

I will also attach the SketchUp file.

ewo, I was right in my earlier post! It was user error and I am the user.

Thanks to your edit of my file and comment I think I have things working on my Mac and XP machine now. Many thanks for taking the time! Onward to the next issue.... ;);)

    Thanks again!

Is it possible to use SketchUCam and Sketchup to:
    - output g-code from a simple high contract bitmap file (or other image)?
    - output g-code for text.

If I outline cut text I don't get any suitable g-code. Likely an issue on my side....

Right now I am just learning CNC, etc. I have stepper motors connected to an Etch a Sketch to experiment, so I just have XY. Boxes and such are working fine. I would like to advance some more on this low end set up.

SketchUcam does not do grey scale image processing.
You can use 'wintopo' to create a dXF vector file from the image, and then use SketchUcam to import the DXF and then create Gcode as desired.

To cut letters/text out, follow this
