I am a newbie - this is my 3rd file - I have parts not showing up in the cnc usb g-code.

I have a Mk III, and am using sketchup 7. Tried rearranging, making the sheet size larger, even redrawing some parts - no luck. All parts are grouped separately in skecthup. New to the terminology here - don't know what a "dogbone" is either from the other older post I read.

This sheet size is 12 x 24 as I plan to cut these parts on lite ply

Post the Sketchup file. I'm sure someone here can help figure it out.

Here you go. The long stringers on the top and bottom are missing in the g-code. I'll attach the g-code in the next post Attached files Thriftway_1-16th_ply_cut.skp (633.9 KB)Â

The reason the gcode is not generating on the parts is because the cut lines are touching each other. If you make the slot a few thousands of an inch bigger they will not touch.

Hope that helps. Attached files [IMG]

    That did it! Thanks.
Now question is can I do a 1/8" slot, or do I need to always make the slot slightly bigger? I'm planning 1/8 lite ply for this kit.

Think I just answered my last question with one possible answer. Use a 1/16" bit instead

A 1/16" bit would be the best option in my opinion. I figured you might only have the stock bit at the moment and is why I suggested making the slot just a little bigger.

    Glad you got things working.

Another way of using the 1/8" bit without making the slot bigger would be to use the fold or centerline tool. The only thing about that is one side will have a cleaner cut than the other.

Where can I get a 1/6" bit and wouldn't it be bigger than the 1/8" bit? ;)

Just looked at my new Bosch Colt router and realized I need special bits just for it? It was recommended for wood cutting. Looks like the collet is 1/4" ID. Got the Phlat attachment for it.

Also picked up some Dow 1/4 Blucore ff at the local Allied building products for $47  You get it from behind the desk-at least they bring it to you. Hope it beats the heck out of the Lowes green ff. When I was there the guy who brought it up to me said "yeah, there was a guy in here before who bought this stuff for model airplanes!" I said "me too".

Cut drawings are good now. Thanks 3dmon. Thinking of maybe light spraymounting some cheaper ff to the back of the 12x24 wood for better grip. Any thoughts on cutting 12x24 1/8 lite ply and 1/16 aircraft?

You should be able to get an 1/8" collet for the bosch at Lowes or Home Depot but Precisebits.com have the better ones with practically no runout.

dcampbell you will love the blue core compared to the green guard! As for the wood just tape the edges to a piece of 1/2" green guard (Lowes) and you should be fine. Use multi-pass set to about 1/16" so you will get 1/8" mater cut in about 3 passes depending on what your over cut value is set to. Keep the federates set to about 20-40 (Also remember to check overhead to)
    Have Fun!
