I thought it would be fun to post some snow pictures. Think the storm is just NE United States area. Here is a pic of the snow outside my house. I measure 7", so far. That's 1/3 of the expected accumulation.

LOL In my 43 years riding this circlin' rock, I've NEVER witnessed a white CHRISTmas. Every kid here hopes for it, but their prayers fall on deaf ears. The closest we've ever been was 1/2" of the white stuff on December 23rd, but it was gone by the next day. LOL Go figure, though - in 2004 we had a white Valentine's day (about 2 inches worth), and in 2007 we had a couple of inches of snow on the day before Easter!

If all goes well, next year we're gonna fly up to MI and spend the holidays at my Pop's house where snow for the 25th is almost a given. I so want to enjoy a "seasonal" CHRISTmas with my kiddoes before I'm too old to enjoy it!

As a footnote: I've had some people ask me why I spell "CHRISTmas" the way I do. I've been doing this for about a decade - it's just my little way of letting folks know that I don't forget the true "reason for the season" and they shouldn't either. I even did it on all my work-related email correspondence (even though my employer asked me not to!). LOL I've enjoyed seeing it written this way from time to time and have wondered if the person was somehow inspired to do so by something I started ages ago. Please feel free to share this with everyone you can! :D Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

Cool stuff Kwok! I know its hard to keep them alive and it looks like you are doing great with it. These trees always remind me of some miniature enchanted forest full of little elves :D
    Nice job

Kwok I love Bonsai trees. I inquired about buying an authenic one a few years back and some of those little guys sell for as much as $20,000 each  I had no idea. Nice one you have there Kwok.

    Crash,

Thanks for the compliment, 7up. I been interested since I was a teenager. Never had much success and killed alot of them, trying to do it the traditional way. I couldn't afford one, like you found out. Would just dig up a tree, when I saw a likely candidate. But then I saw a bonsai series on pbs, called "New Horizons in Bonsai". That was along time ago, before cable, so could have been like 20 years ago. I did record most of it to vhs tape and plan to convert it to digital format, soon. But the new method, involves using sphagnum moss instead of soil. Like I mention, my bonsai spend the whole summer on a asphalt shingle roof and survive just fine. They get full sun from noon on. It's really a harsh environment. That show how good the new method is for the tropical plants. Haven't tried it with temperate plants, yet.

I have no snow pictures, what with where I live. I don't know how much 20" of snow translate to rain. Maybe 5"? Maybe less? Any way, that cold front that dumped the snow on you guys up north is responsible for the 13" of rain we got in the last 48hr. As a matter of fact, it didn't stop rain for more than a few minutes now and then the last 48hr. I wonder what 13" of rain translate to snow? 4'? We barely hit 70°. Believe me, it's cold for us here. Your body gets used to the heat and when it's 70° it feels like 60° back home. Something to do with your blood getting thicker or thiner, depends on where you live.

Opinions vary greatly, but a common number seems to be 1:10 (one inch or water will result from melting about 10 inches of snow)
Found this on the web, looks like that would have been a ton of snow for sure!
