Ok guys, your not going to believe this but I just cut a 3D file from the Phlatscript on the Phlatprinter !
I am so excited I can hardly stand it! This is HUGE!
I stand here looking upon what I believe is the first 3D file to be milled from the Phlatscript. My mind is flooded with ideas. I am truly humbled and honored to be a part of this fantastic project with all of you and it continues to surprises me everyday. This ROCKS! :D
Jovian here on the Phlatforum has been working on this and in a matter of days it seems he had something to show us. We as you guys know have been so busy with the packing of the Phlatprinter 's we have not had the time to explore what he had done so far. I was really anxious about trying this out and could not wait to see what he had. So I woke up early this morning with the intent to check it out.
Well, I have to tell you guys I was blown away! It works!
We had been out of the loop for so long (which really is not that long around here :) ) Kwok had to help me get up and running so that I could try it out. Thank you Kwok, also wanted to mention that Kwok has been working with Jovian to help him beta test while he was trying to get it right.
You guys ROCK!!!! Its awesome to see team work in action produce such awesome results.
I have a few pictures of the plaque that Jovian made for a test. AWESOME!!!! is all I can say
Way to go Jovian you have started a whole new begining and opened doors to an amazing future for us all. I know there is still a lot of work to do to incorporate it into the Phlatscript but its well on its way.
Now that the Phlatscript can do 3D and will be no longer limited to flat objects in Sketchup, I think its safe to say we can change the name to SketchUCAM as we move forward!
This is going to be so unreal guys I can't wait to start making molds right in Sketchup!
    Thank you all

I had to do a few things to get it to work right, but it is really close! I will tell you guys my findings tonight when I get in from working out here in the PhlatShop.

Picture #6 shows that the tool path is true 3D :D
I should have used an example I had of a dome, but I was partial to this one :)
I made a smiley with dome shape eyes and it worked in the code! :D

Sweet, I can't tell you guys how happy that I am able to contribute to the effort here. I am sure everyone will put this to great and imaginative uses. I am also quite happy that the first cut with the script was a success given it was my first thing ever using Ruby, sketchup api, and g code. Things almost never go that smoothly. My god I am so happy almost literally bouncing up and down.

I'm with Buk on this one....WOW!

I think we all knew that someday this might be possible but I didn't expect it so soon!

Jovian, for your first attempt at coding in Ruby this is truly unbelievable, I don't know what else to say. I've been struggling with 2D pockets for 2 years and now we've got true 2.5D on the horizon.

I think I need to go and lie down

Very Nice This will make molding work for some projects I want to a like easier. :D Now I wont have to cut layers and shape.

How much code is in the file compared to the 2d script? Is it a lot more complex?
Thank you jovian for your contribution.

Hi guys, just tried some things out tonight and ran into a few errors but I was able to get this design done to show you more of the 3D aspect.
Right now the script is setup to only run through the Ruby API of Sketchup so is really only in testing mode, there is still work to get it integrated into the Phlatscript completely. We are planning a few different ways we think this would work and want to talk these over with Kwok and Jovian to see if they think it is doable :)
As well, we need to do a reconstruction of the forum so that we can all participate in testing and having fun with this, and what we hope will be many more cool script ideas to come.
So very soon we should have an area where we can all try our hand at Ruby and learn the basics to the advanced and share ideas along with helping one another test them out.
So stay tuned for this changes up and coming
