dennis, this kinda like folding@home?? if so i have thought about it....only thing is when i fire it up, the 1200watt power supply sucks so much juice i just cant leave runnin 24/7 like that....or maybe i am mis understandine how it works??. btw, ya gonna get one of them kites we were looking at ?. randy.

Yes, the projects I run are similar to folding@home, but I'm more interested in "space" than I am "medicine". IIRC, mine is a 800watt power supply and I do leave it running 24/7 just to keep contributing to the projects.
I might make one of the kites we saw, but I already own WAY too many kites to bother buying another one of similar or familiar design. The real problem is that I have too many ongoing projects already.

Just because the power supply is rated 1200W doesn't mean it draws it all the time. It just means that it is capable to deliver it. I don't know how much you computer draws, but it could very well be that all it draws is about 400W

So, you have the equivalent of a hair dryer or small personal space heater running all the time? Electricity must be really expensive in your neck of the woods to be concerned about it. Oh well, I guess the scientific community will survive without the help of your machine.

Dennis, at 10 cent a Kilowatt, that's $70 a month, only for the computer, when it runs 24/7!!! It's a question between either SETI ot beer! :D :D :D
Disclaimer! I have no idea if Randy is drinking beer or not.
