Well the original plan was that I was going to send pictures to Mark & Trish while we were on vacation, and they would post them....and you guys were gonna guess where we were in our travels. Well due to some technical difficulties that didn't work out. Mark and Trish though it would be fun, so I'll pretend that we're on vacation, and post the pics as we "progress"
I'll try not to make it too difficult, but at the same time, try not to make it too easy. Should be fun.
There is no prize for the most guesses other than knowing your geography way better than I do. :)

So without further ado, here is day 1 Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Haha, I've been on one of those river tour boats. My wife and I enjoyed that trip a lot! I'm sure you guys had a great time in Paris.

I was on one of those riverboats as well, but in Amsterdam, Holland so that is my guess.

I agree that those riverboats are used in several European cities, but I'm pretty sure those golden horses on either side of that bridge indicate paris. Besides there's a French flag flying above one of the buildings in the background.

If that is green/white red it is Italian
    Blue/white/red it is french.
Boat looks like french writing on it

Yea, I thought for a second that it was a Italian flag, but it's just the picture that makes it look a little green instead of blue.

Boy you guys are good....I'll have to make the next ones harder ;)

Pic1 Outside the Louvre in the court yard. If I had included the pyramids (to my back), it would have been a dead give-away.

Pic 2 Yep , the Pont Alexandre bridge
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pont_Alexandre_III

Pic 3 Inside the Louvre... Floor and paintings are a dead giveaway if you saw the Da Vinci Code

Pic 4 - Venus De Milo in the Louvre

More Pics tonight from Day 2.... I'll try to make them a little harder :D

My wife and I were in Paris a year ago. We never got inside the Louvre, too busy riding tourbuses around the city, walking the Champs-Élysées (it was a block from our hotel) down to the Eiffel Tower (1km to the right) or the Arc de Triomphe (1/2 km to the left.) My wife wanted to see all the designers shops (Dior, Gucci, Cartier, Louis Vitton, etc.) so we didn't get to see that. A marvelous city, and the French people were very hospitable and gracious. :D

Couldn't agree with you more Dennis.... Last year we were in the area, and had no real interest in seeing Paris( we're more country folk than city folk) but figured hay we're this close, might as well stop.

We only had about 5 hours so we just skimmed so to speak. We did the Champs-Élysées and like your wife, my daughter loved it for the same reasons.... Walked around the Arch ( too busy to go up), walked to the Eiffel Tower, (too busy to go up) walked to Notre Dame (too crowded to go in), and walked around the outside of the Louvre (no time). We made our bus back to port with about 19 seconds to spare.

We fell in love with the city, and knew we had to go back. Contrary to what you hear the people were great!. Here's one of my favorite pics from last year. Attached files [IMG]

    OK, here's Day 2.

This one is kinda hard to just give hints...but to be honest, I would have never recognized it by pictures without knowing where I was. Then it was like, DOH...of course.... Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Holy Moly doesn't begin to describe it, nor do pictures begin to capture how HUGE it is. And that gold in the first 2 pictures isn't paint....

Yep it's the Palace of Versailles. Like TigerPilot said...With all this opulent and excess, no wonder they lost their head.
Just a short train ride outside of Paris...

Anyway here's Day 3. Hopefully a little more challenging than days 1 and 2 ;) Even found a hobby shop, but they weren't open. Attached files [IMG] [IMG] [IMG] [IMG]

Ha... Yes it is a city :D This one must be a stumper... no guesses yet. :)

Hint is the church in the distance and the "stuff" in the foreground of the first pic . Same architect for both. And they are not modern as we would think of modern.

Statue in 2nd Pic would probably give it away if it was a closer shot.
3rd pic is a little obscure..but it's this countries Arc de Triomphe

Hope I didn't give too much away. ;)
