    My guess is no? because how is this any different that the common printer adapters. I use a usb parallel port adapter cable for my old laser printer. It does the same function as this unit.

    Most of the products that provide parallel over USB are just not going to work properly for a stepper controller. The problem is that USB is not intended to handle the demands of real time data transfer. It is fast for sure, but there isn't a gaurunteed delivery time slot for the data.

    You need some kind of buffer in the adapter to gather the data. Then you process the data like a FIFO queue. That is what printers and the smoothstepper do. The lack of an on board buffer is why none of the inexpensive adapters will work.
