Oh, man! Evil, I too am a WoW junkie! I slot time to play twice weekly, but would love to play more often. When I first got into it, I was losing 8-10 hour "slices" of my life! lol Now I budget my time so that I don't miss out on important things like my kids, the wife, eating, etc. lol I'm interested in seeing what comes of this thread. I have thought several times that an RC version of these beasts would be cool. Even if it proves that RC doesn't "fly", I'd love to cut one out to paint and hang it over "nerd central" (my desk where I indulge in "the game").
Well I started messing around with it but never got it done, I am just tracing around the two slices. Is that what you were after? A profile type plane. I was looking on the 3D warehouse to see if I could find this creature in 3D and I found a lot of WoW stuff close to him but not him exactly. If you get a chance check it out Mark this guy makes some nice models http://sketchup.google.com/3dwarehouse/ ... revstart=0 I think it would be cool to unfold that tiger and give him some wings to create a full fuse/body flying creature Mark
Thanks Mark yea I was thinking of a profile. Like I said it just didn't look right or like I could get it to fly lol Full Fuse would be cool too though. I will check out the warehouse didn't think of that. E-T Attached files
ET looks good to me! Thats basicly what I had, the only difference I would say is that I scaled it up really large while I was working on it so that I could get the curves still using the line tool. Once its scaled back down, it makes everything more detailed. Easy to do just slect everything and using the scale tool while holding shift or control can't remember but so that it scales in proportion scale it up to a large size. Then go in and trace your parts once you are done you can select a known measurement for instance a tab that you know should be 1/4" using you tape measure tool click across the tab where it is supposed to be 1/4" and even though it could say 12' doesn't matter, just hit enter and a window will pop up that says do you want to resize your model hit yes and there you go delete the dotted construction line made from the tape measure tool and you should be able to check your tab an it will be the right size. Thats how I get the detail in parts, Hope this helps. Also make sure that you click on the phlatscripts perimeters button (first icon) then hit ok to make sure that it is reset to the new models size, than you can start doing your parts layout and working them. Working with some new screen shots and came up with this one. I think this is better something about the other I didn't like. E-T Attached files
Wow you have jumped leaps and bounds in SU, great work! Are you going to share this one in the free plans section when you are done? Thanks Mark
Here is a picture of the first model cut out. I thought 20" wing span would be good but it's too small I bumped it up 50% and Phlatprinting now. E-T Attached files
Hey man that looks cool! I hope it flys well. Looks like it should if you treah it like a no tail aircraft. Mark
Well thats not what I was going for. I do have a elevator in it bbut I was not going to have a rudder. Do you think it will fly without elevons?? E-T
Heres some video of my Phlatprinter cutting out the windrider. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_JQG6Ex5fg E-T
Cool video thanks for sharing it. BTW is that Alcyon lake in the first clip? My parents have a house right up the street from there. Mark
No that is Greenwich lake well in front of it. Is't a old swimming lake. To clean to be Alcyon lake.lol E-T
