I saw this video the other day over at Rc groups and decided i wanted to build one of my own. ;)

Someone posted a pdf by Tim Hart , 3Dfoamies.com and i took that and turned it into a DXF then imported into sketchup....... Here is what i came up with from the thread http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1191610. I will be cutting it out tonight and building it .

I did change a lot but i think it will fly fine ! Attached files [IMG]

I had so many problems last night with my machine. I didnt get it cut.

I was missing steps on all 3 axis and fought with my machine settings till i thought i would pull my hair out. Then i had the thought maby i should just reinstall Mach !

Did the reinstall and recalibrated. then did a test cut to check. IT WENT PERFECTLY ! Go figure. Anyways i got the files cut tonight and it looks pretty good. I may need to add a little meat to the elevator Though. We will see.

Here is a looky at the cut. I will put it togeather probably tomorrow and see just what she looks like. i may have to airbrush this one ;) Attached files [IMG]

    Nice job ewo!
Its strange that mach was being bogged down like that, I wonder what else is running in the background that may have been causing this. If you find any more info please let us know.

The 3D Citabria is going to be a cool plane to bring to indoor fly events because no one would ever think it could do these types of maneuvers :)
To think its really just a cessna type plane with extra large control surfaces.

Speaking of control surfaces you may want to look how the ailerons are set up like an edge style pattern plane as they split at the tip and allow the tip to be part of the throw as well.

Ahh. Good catch there Mark ! ;) I actually hadnt noticed the ailerons had counter balences

I will be adding them to the files.. Looking at it now in real life i think i need to make a few other changes as well . One being i dont like the looks of the elevator at all. and i think i need to stretch it just a bit...I will post code when i have it the way i want it.

I awoke at 4am this morning and could not sleep, so with idle mind, I had to do something.

I grabbed some still frames from the video and imported them into su and started tracing, filling in what I could not quite see or get a good view.

I decided to make a Micro Citabria out of it and scaled it to a 15" wingspan. I have some micro parts on order and may try them in this to see how it performs.

I don't want to hijack this thread, but here is quicky snapshot of a micro version done for 3mm Depron... Attached files [IMG] [IMG]

Looks great Flash ! Please post pictures as you go along with this . Im interested in the little planes lately ;)

And heres what mine looks like in real life just stuck together with a little tape.

It will need some paint ! :p Also part of the inside cutouts from the wing struts will be used on the landing gear after i figure out what i need to do to make them look right !

Oh and the wing struts will have carbon reinforcements ;) Attached files [IMG] [IMG]
