The New Sloroll biplane is based on the World famous Slofly28 made famous by Sloper steve and Gene bond, for years now I had started this project only to be side track with other builds and projects, I decided yesterday to revisit my project And the Sloroll was invented. I came up with my Name after testing here indoor and the fact that she rolls slow and smooth. Download the free PDF and build yours today. Make sure that when you print the file you check these two boxes under print the page scaling option. Fit To Printable Area Auto-Rotate And Center Ok Fist off the items I had planed on using for the plane were simple items for the pilot and the builder on a budget. 1. Motorfly 2205-1350 http://www.sdparkflyers.com/motrofly.html 1. 10 amp brushless esc 2. 5 gram bluebird 306 servos for the Rudder + Elevator + 1. 9 hxt900 gram for the Ailerons I would be using a gws tyrp 4 channel receiver gws 9050 prop 9mm 1.3# epp foam for the fusealge + Rudder + Elevator 5mm 1.3# for the wings since there are now 2 and 5mm for the new wing braces. 3mm carbon was used for the fusealge + elevator 5mm flat carbon was used in both the wings a motor mount the kind I sell on my site was used I also went with 2mm carbon rods for the x bracing for the wings and the control rods and Aileron linkage, grabed some stir sticks from starbucks for the control horns for the ailerons This plane can be built using all the plans from the original sloyfly28 with a few minor mods I will post pictures so you can see how I did what I did! Pictures speak volumes so as soon as I get home I will upload.. First Look Video I will add the google sketch file later VIDEO VIDEO VIDEO Attached files fullslorollpdf.pdf (61.1 KB)Â newbipe.skp (448.8 KB)Â sloroller.pdf (378.9 KB)Â
I just added the google sketchup file for those of you who might want to convert it for your printer All I ask in return is if you cut and fly this Kit please let people know where you got the plans You can post pictures and stuff about this in the vendor section on RCGROUPS under my sdparkflyers section also. If anyone wants to cut kits for sell using EPP foam send me a email so we can talk first Thanks Robert sdparkflyers.com
Robert, Welcome to the Phlatforum! I have to say this is a GREAT first post! Awesome job and thank you for sharing. You Rock We will do our best to support www.sdparkflyers.com for future projects! Mark and Trish
I love sdparkflyers. That is where I got the notion to start making planes out of foam. It was back in the day when it was slofly. I cut many of the slofly kits by hand, even bought my blue wonders and motor mounts from them. Robert has always been a tremendous source of information and inovation. Crash5050
Hello Robert. Welcome to the Phlatforum. Thank you for posting the plans for the Sloroller. Very nice looking plane. It's looks really light. What's the AUW? Mark and Trish
WOW Everyone thanks for the Hardy Welcome I have Designed all my plans that I build using EPP with Google sketchup so I have much to share with the group Frank and Brian over at rcflightcast are the ones that told me about the Phlatforum and since Im all about giving back to the hobby I will share what I can with you all. And Again thanks for making me feel Welcome
I love the full plan files. Thanks Rob. I got that in my email and am already messing with it further. Copme on Spring time!
For those of you who dont know me I will only post stuff here on the boards once I have built and tested it I dont want to waste anyones time and effort in posting a set of plans that only results in a plane that wont fly! or is so out of control that you feel cheated or pissed after you spent all your time building. I hand cut many of my original designs and then tear them down and convert them to a google file once I know they fly well enough to meet my standards, My research team "Me myself and I" Just does not want to cheat anyone into seeing a video or building a plane that does not work! If you have a design even if its a sketch and you would like me to run your idea through Google sketchup let me know And I will do my Best to help!
Ok guys I have upgraded this awesome plane for the PhlatscripT  I only have 12" wide EPP so that is the size I made the safe cutting area, but if you have wider sheets and a Phlatprinter MKII you should be able to get them all on one sheet. I also added stencils for the logo Have fun let me know how it cuts Thank you Robert this looks like a winner! WOW, this is a cool little plane, Thanks Robert and Mark for the plans!!! I always loved the slofly 28 and this bipe will be a great addition to the hanger John
Bleh started cutting one last night and the EPP skewed all over the place, gues I am going to need a fence mod or something to keep it straight
Jeff, Check out the ideas that ToxicToast is using to cut EPP with out the skew viewtopic.php?f=59&t=1730&p=16873&hilit=cutting+epp#p16847
I have been looking this project over. Very neat. One question tho...SketchUp drawing shows wings as 5mm EPP and the Phlatcode shows them as 3mm. Is this a typo or has it been decided 3mm works okay? Chuck ...somewhere in Indiana...
Good eye Chuck! I am sorry guys, it was my mistake. I have been working with so much 3mm depron it just came natural! The files have been updated Mark
After my post, I jumped into RCFoam to see what they had in 5mm EPP. They do not list any 5mm EPP. I recalled sdparkflyers saying he bought his stuff from RCFoam in 12" widths. RCFoam lists 9mm, 6mm, 3mm, but I don't see any 5mm. Chuck
6mm should be ok! I bought my 5mm from http://www.rcskyflyer.com They are based out here on the west coast
